If you divide by 8 the value doesn't decrease by 800%. If you divide 10 by 8 it's an 87.5% reduction. Actually, that's true for every number divided by 8. (Pretty cool, actually).

Reducing a value by 100% makes it zero. So what happens when you keep going by an additional 700%?

It accelerates in the opposite direction. So if you reduced this track by 800%, it would be playing at a high rate of speed in reverse.

You know at very least, you can really tell how much autotune he DIDN'T use in this. His voice moves up and down smoothly and naturally, while an autotune would make it sound more jagged and stuttered.

That is not the case. Pitch correction software such as Autotune has multiple inputs and parameters. Besides voice, you can input the notes and you can input the attack and precision, as well as timbre correction factor, and some software allows manual correction. Common use, as used on pretty much all big studio releases out there and by all big-name touring artists, involves setting these parameters such, that the result is almost completely natural sounding, by matching the characteristics of the singer's own voice. But you can turn off timbre correction and put attack on 0 (fastest), leave out the guide input and put it on automatic with chromatic scale snap, and then you get the famous Autotune effect.

Hans Zimmer actually slowed down the Edith Piaf song from Inception to create the Inception "theme", which correlates with dream time passing faster than wake time, and it sounds superb. Not suggesting we slow down music, but it's a better way of our brains being able to comprehend such.

I agree with you. I found this track on stereomood and listened to it from playlist "studying" for a few times and today I was listening to it again and wanted to find out what title it is. To my big surprise it appeared to be Justin Bieber :D I thought it was made totally electronic without anybody singing for real :D

the point is, the waves in space dont need air particles to travel. if we had the right tech, we could theoretically tune into the sounds of space and translate it into audio to listen to in our quite sufficiently pressurized environment. c:

Found this this through CGP Grey of all people. I think I see what he likes about it. It's really ethereal and oddly soothing never in a million years would I have pictured myself enjoying a Justin Bieber song but apparently if you slow his music down 800% it becomes oddly beautiful who knew. It kinda remind me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4Wv5M9JPao Undertale's "The Choice" which is the last portion of Undertale's "Undertale" slowed down 666%. I guess slowing down songs in this method just makes them sound all ethereal.

@Pong Dian i had a lot of those symptoms, especially those related to seratonin syndrome. I was prescribed for major depressive disorder. While it certainly worked in that regard, this med was so wild... i stopped taking after only 1-3 months because the symptoms were so strong. Very vivid dreams, reality starting to mesh into dreams, auditory hallucination, hypereflexia, also felt like i was on a stimulant. Very wild lol
