The band was originally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Morris. He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in their early years.
The band launched two CDs, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & The Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 comedy Swingers.
From there they were signed by Capitol Records. With Capitol the band released Americana Deluxe (also known as a second Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and This Beautiful Life. The band has continued their tours, performances and album releases Save My Soul, Live, and Everything You Want For Christmas, with one high point being their appearance at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.
Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has experienced great success playing on the Pops programs of American Symphony Orchestras and regular US tours.
Most recently, BBVD released a tribute album titled How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway. As part of the live concerts promoting this recent album, the band continues to perform new material, including the track "5-10-15 Times I Love You" which frontman Scotty Morris says will be recorded as part of a new album in early 2011.

I'm Mr. Cool.
I'm Mr. Icicle
I'm Mr. 10 below
Friends call me Snow Miser
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch!
I'm too much
He's mister white Christmas
He's mister snow
He's mister icicle
He's mister ten below
Friends call me Snow Miser
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch!
I'm too much
I never wanna know a day
That's over 40 degrees.
I'd rather have it 30,20 then 5.
Let It Freeze!
He's mister white Christmas
He's mister snow
He's mister icicle
He's mister ten below
Friends call me Snow Miser
Whatever I touch
Turns to snow in my clutch!
I'm too much
I'm Mr. green Christmas
I'm Mr. Sun.
I'm Mr. Heat Blister
I'm Mr. One Hundred and one
They call me Heat Miser
Whatever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch.
I'm too much!
He's mister Heat Miser
He's mister sun
He's mister heat blister
He's mister hundred and one
They call me Heat Miser
Whatever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch.
He's too much
I never wanna know a day
That's under 60 degrees.
I'd rather have it
80, 90, 100 degrees!
(hot chorus)
They call me Heat Miser
Whatever I touch
Starts to melt in my clutch.
I'm too much
Too much!
The lyrics to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's song "Mr. Heatmiser" are a playful play on the juxtaposition between cold winter weather and hot summer heat. The song introduces two characters, Snow Miser and Heat Miser, who are portrayed as being polar opposites. Snow Miser, or "Mr. White Christmas," is characterized as cool and icy, with friends referring to him as the "Snow Miser." Everything he touches turns to snow, and he prefers temperatures below freezing. In contrast, Heat Miser, or "Mr. Green Christmas," is depicted as hot and sunny, with a penchant for causing things to melt in his grasp. Heat Miser is characterized by his name, as they call him "Heat Miser," and he prefers temperatures above 60 degrees.
The playful and humorous lyrics of "Mr. Heatmiser" are intended to be catchy and fun for listeners. The song's underlying message is about the importance of balance in life; too much of anything can be bad, as evidenced by the extreme weather preferences of the two characters. Snow Miser and Heat Miser must learn to coexist without causing destruction in their wake. Ultimately, the lyrics to this song are meant to be lighthearted and emphasize the importance of harmony and balance in our lives.
