The band was originally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Morris. He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in their early years.
The band launched two CDs, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & The Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 comedy Swingers.
From there they were signed by Capitol Records. With Capitol the band released Americana Deluxe (also known as a second Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and This Beautiful Life. The band has continued their tours, performances and album releases Save My Soul, Live, and Everything You Want For Christmas, with one high point being their appearance at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.
Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has experienced great success playing on the Pops programs of American Symphony Orchestras and regular US tours.
Most recently, BBVD released a tribute album titled How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway. As part of the live concerts promoting this recent album, the band continues to perform new material, including the track "5-10-15 Times I Love You" which frontman Scotty Morris says will be recorded as part of a new album in early 2011.

Will you say "No"?
Oh, will you say: "Baby, I don′t know"?
Will you say "Stop"?
Will you say "Go"?
Will you say "I still do not know"?
Will it be me,
Or will it be you?
Oh, when you say "Yes",
Do you mean "No"?
Oh, do you mean "Baby I don't know"?
When you say "Stop",
Do you mean "Go"?
Do you mean "I don′t really know"?
Oh, will it be wrong
Or will it be right?
Ah, baby, will I find out tonight?
And this is just a question I ask myself each day:
Will I ever get it right?
And will she ever say:
That I am good when I'm good
That I am bad when I'm bad
That I am cool when I′m cool
That I am right when I′m right
'Cause baby when we fight
She′s always right, I'm never wrong!
And this is just a question I ask myself each day:
Will I ever get it right?
And will she ever say:
That I am good when I′m good
That I am bad when I'm bad
That I am cool when I′m cool
That I am right when I'm right
'Cause baby when we fight
(Baby, when we fight)
Yes, baby, when we fight
She′s always right, I′m never wrong!
The lyrics to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's song She's Always Right are about the complicated nature of romantic relationships. The song explores the singer's uncertainty about his partner's feelings and intentions towards him. He asks a series of questions, wondering if his partner will say yes or no, go or stop, and if their relationship will be right or wrong. The uncertainty expressed by the singer is a reflection of the often confusing and ambiguous nature of romantic relationships, where two people may not always be on the same page.
The singer also acknowledges that during fights, his partner always seems to be right, and he is never wrong. This line indicates that the singer may feel like he is not being heard or understood by his partner, or perhaps they have different communication styles that lead to misunderstandings.
Ultimately, the song is about the singer's desire to be seen and appreciated by his partner. He hopes that she will recognize and affirm his positive attributes such as being good, cool, and right. The lyrics highlight the importance of clear communication and mutual understanding in a romantic relationship.
