The band was originally formed in 1989 by leader Scott Morris. He and Kurt Sodergren are the two "original" members, with the rest of the band joining later on. The band concentrated on the swing of the 1940s and '50s, playing clubs and lounges in their early years.
The band launched two CDs, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Watchu' Want for Christmas? under their own label (Big Bad Records) before getting their big break when their songs "You & Me & The Bottle Makes Three Tonight (Baby)" and "Go Daddy-O" were featured in the 1996 comedy Swingers.
From there they were signed by Capitol Records. With Capitol the band released Americana Deluxe (also known as a second Big Bad Voodoo Daddy) and This Beautiful Life. The band has continued their tours, performances and album releases Save My Soul, Live, and Everything You Want For Christmas, with one high point being their appearance at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show.
Over the last few years, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has experienced great success playing on the Pops programs of American Symphony Orchestras and regular US tours.
Most recently, BBVD released a tribute album titled How Big Can You Get?: The Music of Cab Calloway. As part of the live concerts promoting this recent album, the band continues to perform new material, including the track "5-10-15 Times I Love You" which frontman Scotty Morris says will be recorded as part of a new album in early 2011.

You Know You're Wrong

And you could never be it,
Your eyes are always closed
You can't see beyond your nose
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong!
The girl that you just met's got you tied up like a pet
Got you coming got you going
Got you never ever knowin' that you wrong
Even though I know you love this song ,
You sit and sing it all day long.
It doesn't change a thing for me,
'Cause brother you will never see
At the end of the day
I can always hear you say
That nothing ever goes
Quite your way
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
I say I don't wanna fight, 'cause you are never right!
You know you wrong
(you know you wrong)
You know you wrong
The lyrics of the song "You" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy convey a message of frustration with someone who is refusing to see the truth. The singer is calling it like they see it and pointing out that the person they are addressing is always wrong. The individual in question is seemingly blind to their own faults and refuses to acknowledge them. The singer is insistent that they do not want to fight the person because they are never right. The chorus is a repetition of "You know you wrong," which emphasizes the point the singer is trying to make.
The second verse introduces a new character, a woman who has captivated the person the singer is addressing. This woman has seemingly got this individual tied up like a pet, and he is blindly following her every whim. He is never able to see that he is wrong because this woman has got him wrapped around her finger. The bridge mentions that the person being addressed loves the song, even though it doesn't change anything. The singer is resigned to the fact that this person will never see the truth.
Overall, the song is an indictment of someone who refuses to take any responsibility for their actions and is blindly following someone else’s lead. The singer is frustrated by this individual but is also sympathetic as he recognizes they will probably never change.
