Named after lyrics in the Bob Dylan song Wiggle Wiggle, the band has sold more than 100,000 copies of their albums since they released their first album, the self titled Big Fat Snake in 1991. After Peter Viskinde left in 2009, he released the album Reel 1 under the Big Fat Snake name, claiming he owned the rights to it. Later the same year, the band name was given to the original band members in an out-of-court settlement in which Viskinde agreed to use another name (Sheriffen) for his new band.

Well I got a woman mean as she can be
Some-a-times I think shes almost mean as me
She gotta ruby lips, she got shapely hips, yeah
Boy she makes ole roy-oy flip
I got a woman mean as she can be
Some-a-times I think shes almost mean as me
Well I ain't braggin', its understood
Everything I do, well I sure do it good
Yeah I got a woman mean as she can be
Some-a-times I think shes almost mean as me
Well!
She gotta ruby lips, she got shapely hips, yeah
Boy she makes ole roy-oy flip
I got a woman mean as she can be
Some-a-times I think shes almost mean as me, easy now
Ah-huh-huh-huh
Now lets go one time
Well I got a woman (sha la la la)
Yeah I got a woman (sha la la la)
Yeah I got a woman (sha la la la)
Well I got a woman (sha la la la)
Some-a-times I think shes almost mean as me
The song Mean Woman Blues by Big Fat Snake talks about a man who has a woman who is incredibly mean. He describes the woman as having ruby lips and shapely hips that make him feel elated but also states that she is as mean as he is. The chorus repeats that he has a woman who is mean as can be, and he sometimes thinks that she is almost mean as he is. The song is a classic blues-rock track that uses simple yet effective lyrics to convey the emotions of the singer.
The song's lyrics describe the singer's woman as being mean, just like him. Mean, in this context, might not necessarily refer to her personality but might indicate how she treats him in their relationship. The chorus repeats to emphasize this point and make it a central theme of the song. The singer also talks about how he feels about the woman's physical appearance in the verses, highlighting that he still finds her attractive despite her meanness. The repetition of the chorus and the simplicity of the lyrics make this song easy to sing-along to and memorable.
