Choppin' blades, these blades
All the corners bent
To get paid, get paid
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
Chop-chop with an attitude (attitude)
Get back what you had to do (had to do)
Everything by capitol (capitol)
Came up where it never good (never good)
Cameras always against the wood (against the wood)
You probably would've had a crib (had the crib)
But you went and got a 'Lac DeVille
Got a girl that bite the dick (bite the D)
Drop top for ya driver need
G said when the pain get scratched and it ain't on flat but ya got to see it (got to see it)
Pop trunk and you show the glow (show the glow)
Ain't nothin' she ain't seen before
You ain't even try to hold the do'
You ain't never been in love before
Listen
All the time I spent
Choppin' blades, these blades
All the corners bent
To get paid, get paid
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
Yeah, I went and copped a slab
With chrome on the tires
Pink in the rain, put the screens in the visor
Banging the trunk like the trunk could be louder
Candy painted like a Willy Wonka wrapper
Tailor made this suit so Dan ain't even Dapper
Player with my stature
Steppin' out, steppin' out clean on 'em
Had a horizontal kinda lean on 'em
But I'm screwed up, zooted up, double cup too
Top been down but the A/C blew
On a hot summer day when the freaks out to play
Let the bae pave the way 'cause the kid coming through
But coming down ain't quite all it seem
Jackers on lurk and law's contained
I'ma tell you 'bout it in these neon minks
Popped up twice when I find a queen
All the time I spent
Choppin' blades, these blades
All the corners bent
To get paid, get paid
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
Truly means nothing if you've never been in love (love, love, love, love)
In the song "All The Time" by Big K.R.I.T., the lyrics depict the lifestyle and mindset of someone who has spent a significant amount of time on the streets hustling and grinding to make money. The repeated lines "All the time I spent, Choppin' blades, these blades, All the corners bent, To get paid, get paid" illustrate the dedication and hard work put into their craft (chopping blades) and the sacrifices they have made (bent corners) in order to earn a living.
However, the lines "Truly means nothing if you've never been in love" emphasize that despite the materialistic gains and success, it holds no value if this individual has never experienced genuine love. The artist suggests that love is an essential aspect of life, and without it, the accomplishments and wealth are emptier. This line adds a layer of depth to the narrative, highlighting the artist's desire for a connection deeper than just material possessions.
The following lines delve into the clash between the longing for love and the allure of the "slab" culture, which refers to customized cars with flashy modifications. The lyrics express a yearning for love and affection but also acknowledge that for now, the materialistic lifestyle serves as a substitute. The mention of chopping blades and an attitude indicates the aggressive and driven nature of the persona, while also comparing it to the intensity and precision of a surgeon.
The lyrics further describe the juxtaposition between a life of luxury and the struggles faced by those who pursue it. The mention of a house versus a Cadillac DeVille alludes to the choices made in prioritizing material possessions over stability. The reference to a girl who bites the penis signifies the personas' association with promiscuity and the turmoil that comes with it. Additionally, the lyrics suggest a lack of commitment, as the line "You ain't even try to hold the do'" implies a lack of effort to maintain a relationship. This portrays a sense of emotional detachment and the inability to truly experience love.
Throughout the song, the artist showcases the duality of their lifestyle, both reveling in the materialistic culture associated with luxury cars and yearning for a deeper emotional connection in love. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the struggles, choices, and conflicting emotions faced by individuals who have dedicated their lives to a hustle but ultimately realize the emptiness that comes without love.
