His debut album, Finally Famous, was released in June 2011 and featured guest appearances from hip hop superstars Kanye West, Chris Brown, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, Wiz Khalifa, and Lupe Fiasco.
He was raised by his mother and grandparents who worked steadfastly to instill in him the principles of hard work and determination. Sean attended the Detroit Waldorf School, a school of art, from Kindergarten to 8th Grade where he was in 102.7FM, a local radio station in Detroit where he displayed his rhyming skills weekly. There, he met Kanye West after a radio interview in 2005 and got a chance to display his talent by freestyling for Mr. West, giving him a copy of his music and sending numerous tracks for him to critique. After months of submitting songs and numerous meetings, Sean finally got a call from Kanye West himself saying that he wanted to sign him. Two years later, West signed Big Sean to GOOD Music. Sean has cited West, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., and J Dilla as his influences.
On September 30, 2007, Big Sean released his first official mixtape Finally Famous: The Mixtape. His hit single, "Get'cha Some", produced by WrighTrax, attained media attention and led to articles in The Source and the Detroit Metro Times. He also recorded a music video for "Get'cha Some", which was directed by Hype Williams. Sean released a second mixtape hosted by Mick Boogie on April 16, 2009, called UKNOWBIGSEAN. It featured the songs "Million Dollars", "Get'cha Some" and "Supa Dupa". This mixtape includes 30 tracks. Sean released a third mixtape hosted by Don Cannon on August 31, 2010, called Finally Famous Vol. 3: BIG, which features include major artists like Bun B, Chip tha Ripper, Curren$y, Tyga, Drake, Mike Posner, Chuck Inglish, Asher Roth, Dom Kennedy, and Chiddy Bang. The mixtape includes 20 tracks.
Finally Famous, Sean's debut studio album, was released June 28, 2011, and spawned three hit singles; "My Last", "Marvin & Chardonnay" and "Dance (Ass)". When the songs "O.T.T.R." and "Flowers" were leaked in July 2011, speculation began of a new mixtape. Sean confirmed in an interview on June 28, 2011, that a collaborative mixtape between him and "two other guys in hip-hop that are just killing it right now" will be released "in a couple of weeks". Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y were the suspected featured rappers on the mixtape. However, Wiz Khalifa later confirmed that there would be no mixtape, claiming that the songs were created, "just for fun".

Million Dollars
Big Sean Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm gone make a million and one dollars,
And do it again.
Just wait 'till tomorrow, we gone borrow, and record again.
Cant wait till the day we wake up, wake up, wake up.
And we all gone be paid up, paid up, paid up.
Just wait, wait.
Man, I'm so tired for praying for this free shit,
And being broke as some weak shit.
But thank god for that Micky D's,
One dollar double cheese,
Or something nice I don't wanna eat shit.
But there always was girls on my penor,
And I fell victim to the vagina.
But when it comes to the ass chase,
No thank you rather run in the cash race.
To the world knows Sean,
The only thing getter better in time besides wine.
Honestly better than all these asses,
With no practice,
Forreal just as is.
I didn't have to go to school,
I was better at this,
Watch a nigga pull more strings than Lenny Kravitz.
So I can say I have it,
If not I wish I had it,
I do it with a passion.
[Hook]
[Verse 2]
And we just started we nowhere near the outro,
I'll tell y'all what I'm about though.
High ends, high spending,
We just trying to end life on a high note, soprano.
And I was supposed to be on for a minute,
Man I've been writing songs for a many.
And you can ask Kanye, you can ask G-Ro, you can ask Don C.
Hip hop why the hell you find a nigga like me?
Snotty nose lil' nigga,
Yous to tell by his cream.
Now I'm wearing ice cream with a chain on my shirt,
Call that bitch a ice t.
So tell me what it takes to go from sitting on porches,
To sitting in porsches.
Take in less fortunate,
And turn it into a fortune,
And make my mama proud that she didn't get that abortion.
[Hook]
[Outro]
I'm gone make a million, just wait 'till tomorrow [x5]
Do it again, we gone do it again, do it again...
"Million Dollars" by Big Sean is a song in which the artist reflects on his journey and aspirations for success. The lyrics convey a sense of determination and resilience, emphasizing the willingness to work hard and overcome obstacles in order to achieve financial success.
In the hook, Big Sean expresses his intention to make a million dollars and do it again. This showcases his ambition and drive to continuously improve and grow his wealth. He acknowledges that it might take some time, as indicated by the line "Just wait 'till tomorrow, we gone borrow, and record again." This line implies that he is dedicated to his craft and willing to put in the effort to achieve his goals.
In the first verse, Big Sean discusses his past struggles and his desire to break free from financial constraints. He mentions being tired of relying on others and expresses gratitude for inexpensive meals like McDonald's. He also references his encounters with women and acknowledges that he has been distracted by relationships. However, he recognizes that pursuing money is more important to him than pursuing romantic interests and prefers to focus on the "cash race."
The second verse highlights Big Sean's perseverance in his music career. He claims to have been writing songs for a long time and credits Kanye West, G-Ro, and Don C as individuals who can vouch for his dedication. He questions why he, a seemingly unlikely candidate, has found success in hip-hop. The verse also touches on the artist's transformation from humble beginnings to a life of luxury, symbolized by wearing an "ice cream" chain on his shirt. He reflects on the opportunity to improve his circumstances and make his mother proud.
Overall, "Million Dollars" conveys Big Sean's determination to achieve financial success through hard work and dedication, while also reflecting on the challenges and distractions he has faced along the way.
