Body Parts
Big Ups Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

With eyes and ears
We can see in here
But with lips and mouths
We can kiss and shout
Let's take our hands
And use them to feel
Then we can rest
And then we can heal
And lets take our back
And carry the weight

Open yourself
Before it's too late

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics from Big Ups's song "Body Parts," the band reflects on the different ways that we experience and express ourselves as humans. The first two lines touch on the senses of sight and hearing, suggesting that these are passive ways of taking in information about the world without necessarily interacting with it. The next two lines contrast this with the active use of our mouths to both communicate with others and express ourselves loudly. The following lines suggest that we can use our hands to physically interact with the world and feel our way through life, ultimately leading to rest and healing. The final two lines urge the listener to be open to experiences and opportunities before it's too late.
