Roi
Bilal Hassani Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I know I will always be
At the end of the day you cannot change me, boo
Alors laisse-moi m'envoler
I'm not rich but I'm shining bright
I can see my kingdom now
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
I'm not rich but I'm shining bright
I can see my kingdom now
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
And I kno-o-o-ow even tho-o-o-ough
You tried to take me down, you cannot break me now
Moi je les cala pas, you can never remove my crown
Who are we?
When we hide, when we fight for free
Only God can judge you and me
Ce qu'on est, on ne l'a pas choisi
On choisit
I'm not rich but I'm shining bright
I can see my kingdom now
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
I'm not rich but I'm shining bright
I can see my kingdom now
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
And I kno-o-o-ow even tho-o-o-ough
You tried to take me down, you cannot break me now
Moi je les cala pas, you can never remove my crown
Quand je rêve, je suis un roi
In Bilal Hassani's song "Roi," he celebrates being true to himself despite the pressures to conform to societal expectations. The opening verse of "Je suis free, oui, j'invente ma vie," translates to "I am free, yes, I invent my life." He rejects the notion of being put into a box and conforming to others' expectations. The line, "I'm not in the codes, it bothers a lot," suggests that people feel uncomfortable when confronted with someone who does not fit into traditional stereotypes or expectations.
Bilal is proud of his individuality and refuses to let others dampen his spirit or break him down. The lyrics "You tried to take me down, you cannot break me now" reflect the singer's determination to stay true to himself regardless of outsiders' opinions. He is confident in his identity and does not allow others to remove his metaphorical crown.
The chorus of the song repeats the line, "Quand je rêve, je suis un roi," or "When I dream, I am a king." This line reflects Bilal's aspirations and his desire to feel empowered despite the challenges he faces. Overall, the song's primary message is one of self-love and self-reliance, encouraging listeners to embrace their individuality and believe in themselves.

@Christophe VALERE c'est ironique rassurez moi ?
