When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
He came down to my level
When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
If you're lookin' for contentment
In the things that you can see
You're gonna have some disappointment
So won't you listen to me, please
'Cause I know about a Savior
He came down to be a man
And when He left, He sent His Spirit
He made me everything I am
He came down to my level
When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
Sometimes I make decisions
That later I regret
But the Lord keeps on assuring me
He's not finished with me yet
I don't worry about tomorrow
I don't worry about yesterday
I don't worry about this crazy world
'Cause I found a better way
He came down to my level
When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
He came down to my level
When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
He came down to my level
When I couldn't get up to His
With a strong arm He lifted me up
To show me what livin' is
He'll come down to your level
If you'll open up the door
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
He wants to make your life worth livin'
That's what He came down for
That's what He came down for
The song Down On My Knees by Bill & Gloria Gaither is about the unconditional love and grace of God. The opening lines of the song speak about how God came down to the level of the singer when they couldn't get up to His level. It talks about how God lifted them up with a strong arm to show them what living means. The song invites the listener to open up their doors and let God in, so that He can make their life worth living.
The second verse encourages the listener not to look for contentment in the material things of the world, but instead, to look towards God. The lyrics talk about how the singer found a better way in God, and how even though they make mistakes and have regrets, they trust that God is not finished with them yet. The chorus repeats the theme of God coming down to lift us up to his level and make our lives worth living.
Overall, the song is a message of hope and encouragement, telling listeners that God cares about them and will always be there to lift them up when they fall.

Lyrics:
Once I wandered alone
In blackness of night
Once I struggled along
Far from God and right
Then I saw I was lost
And in my despair
I fell upon my knees in prayer
Chorus:
I was down on my knees
Down on my knees
Praying to my Lord ev'ry day
I was praying to Jesus
To hear me please
And take my heavy burden away
Old Satan tried to tell me
The Bible was a lie
That Jesus did not love me
And I was doomed to die
But I stayed at my knees
Stayed on my knees
Jesus took my burden away
I had fallen so low in sin
And in shame
That it seemed almost hopeless
To trust His name
But I lifted my voice
And cried in despair
And Jesus heard my humble prayer
(Repeat Chorus)

I learnt this song in the 80s in my country Nigeria. Loved it and still does. I sang my alto part along with them.
Just wanted to say that Sue Dodge has not aged one bit. Same weight, same smile, same hair. She's amazing.
So good to see everyone looking young and happy especially Kevin Williams.
God please continue to bless Bill and Gloria and their homecoming friends.
