I Am

In my heart
You're the light
That guides me through the dark
You walk beside me
The night seems cold
Each time I fall
[Chorus]
You walk beside me
Giving strength I've never known
I am not alone
You walk beside me
You're here
In my mind
I talk to you
And all my fears unwind
I know I'm loved for who I am
You make me wanna be the best I can
[Chorus]
And I rely on your patience
When I face the unknown
And because of you
I am not alone
In the sun, in the rain
Through the good times and the pain
I reach out for your hand
I know that you understand
[Chorus]
The lyrics of "Just as I Am" by Bill & Gloria Gaither And Their Homecoming Friends are a powerful testimony to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The song is inspired by the biblical account of Mary Magdalene and the disciples discovering the empty tomb on the third day after Jesus' crucifixion.
The song begins with a reflection of the despair and hopelessness that the disciples felt after Jesus' death. They witnessed his life slowly ebb away and begged for his body to be taken down from the cross. They mourned his death and sealed his body in a tomb. However, the chorus of the song proclaims that the emptiness left in the wake of Jesus' death was filled with the resurrected presence of the Lord. Mary Magdalene is mentioned in the second verse, as the first one to see the risen Jesus and experience the transformative power of his love.
The song's message reminds listeners that no matter what they've done before, it won't matter anymore, because encountering the risen Jesus changes everything. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most significant event in Christian history, and the song captures the joy and hope that comes with the realization that death has been defeated, and eternal life is possible.

We knew he was dead
We were aware of his death
It is finished, he said
He declared that it was completed
We had watched as his life ebbed away
We observed his life gradually receding
Then we all stood around
We were all present
Till the guards took him down
Until the guards removed him
Joseph begged for his body that day
Joseph requested his body to be buried that day
It was late afternoon
It was close to evening
When we got to the tomb
When we arrived at the tomb
Wrapped his body and sealed up the grave
We covered his body and closed the grave
So I know how you feel
I understand your emotions
His death was so real
His passing was genuinely felt
But please listen and hear what I say
Pay attention to what I will tell you
I've just seen Jesus
I have just witnessed Jesus
I tell you he's alive
I attest that he is alive
Our precious Lord alive
Our beloved Master is living
And I knew, he really saw me too
I was also aware of his recognition of me
As if till now, I'd never lived
It felt like I have not lived until that moment
All that I'd done before
My previous actions
Won't matter anymore
Will no longer be relevant
It was his voice she first heard
The first thing she heard was his voice
Those kind gentle words
His kind and gentle utterances
Asking what was her reason for tears
Inquired about the cause of her tears
And I sobbed in despair
I cried in utter sadness
My Lord is not there
My Master is not present there
He said, child! it is I, I am here!
He exclaimed, my dear! It is me, I am present
I've just seen Jesus!
I have seen Jesus!
And I'll never be the same again
My life will never remain the same

Just as I am, without one plea
Just as I am, without one plea,
but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou bidd'st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not
to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt;
fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
sight, riches, healing of the mind,
yea, all I need, in thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, thou wilt receive;
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve,
because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, thy love unknown
has broken every barrier down;
now to be thine, yea, thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, of that free love
the breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
here for a season, then above:
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fighting and fears within without
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come
Ooh, just as I am, ooh, I come
Ooh, just as I am, oh Lamb of God, I come
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come
Ooh, just as I am, ooh, I come
Ooh, just as I am, oh Lamb of God, I come
Oh lamb of God, I come

I am one of the many who came to Jesus Christ through the England crusade in 1968 at Roker Park, Sunderland, and am so thankful for the ministry of Billy Graham, Cliff Barrows and Bev Shea and to their devotion to God.

A sister in Christ told me one time that she still cries at invitations. She say maybe I need to stop.
I told her that it is the Holy Spirit leading your heart. To never harden your heart to the invitation.
Never feel yourself weak or soft. Tears still run down my face during an invitation. Itโs the Love of God and our prayers for the lost to come to know Jesus.
