I Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey
Bill & Gloria Gaither Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now
Gonna make it to Heaven somehow
Though the devil tempts me and he tried to turn me around

He's offered everything that's got a name
All the wealth I want and worldly fame
But if I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now, no, no, no
Oh, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now
I gotta make it to Heaven somehow
Though the devil tempts me and he tried to turn me around

He's offered everything that's got a name
All the wealth I want and worldly fame

And if I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now
Yeah, if I could still I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now

Brings back such wonderful memories of when I was a teen, going to the "all night sings" with many of these old timers performing! They haven't lost anything over the years, just as good today as back then (more than 50 years ago) and just as entertaining! Would love to see them all on stage in person again - maybe someday!

Terry McMillan is the harp player featured on Garth Brooks’s “Ain’t Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up.” Not even Garth can top Miss Vestal, though! ♥️

Golden Teledy

That song inspired me to play the harmonica. Terry played with so much emotion that he could make a harp sound like it's crying and made it an extention to his singing voice. He's also the reason why I use the Hohner Golden Melody as my harp of choice because I love the sounds he made using them, combining country licks with the blues that gave those harps a bright and raspy tone. Nobody could play the harmonica with a joyful, but lonesome sound like he did.
