For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus Who died,
And is now gone above.:
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain,
Who has taken our sins,
And has cleansed every stain.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.
Revive us again;
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.
The first stanza of the Bill and Gloria Gaitherโs song lyrics express gratitude to God for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died and resurrected, assuring a place in heaven for believers. The phrase โFor Jesus who died and is now gone aboveโ speaks about the ascension of Christ into heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of the Father. The word โloveโ revokes the popular bible verse- For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). The songwriters honor and acknowledge the love of God by praising Him for it.
The second stanza praises the Lamb that was slain, who has cleansed believers of all sins and every stain. This sacrifice was made in Revelation 5, where the Lamb who was slain appeared before God and took the scroll from the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. The Lamb is considered sinless, blameless, and a propellant for the redemption of humankind. Therefore, the lyrics are thanking God for sending Jesus, as He is the ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of the world.
The third and final stanza of the song lyrics is a prayer requesting God to reignite the passion and faith of every believer. The words โrevive us again' emphasizes the desire to refresh the spirits of the children of God with the Holy Spirit. The songwriter is praying for a spiritual awakening to occur where each soul will be infused with the fire from above, which represents the Holy Spirit. The lyrics from every stanza of the song express gratitude, praise, and petition for spiritual renewal for every believer.

My favorite hymn! REVIVE US AGAIN! Thank you for recording this right out of the old hymnal! It's so wonderful to hear the traditional rendition without a bunch of flourishes and extra notes added.
