In A Sentimental Mood
Bill Evans Trio Lyrics

I can see the stars come thru my room
While your loving attitude
Is like a flame that lights the gloom
On the wings of ev'ry kiss
Drift a melody so strange and sweet
In this sentimental bliss you make my
Paradise complete
It's all like a dream to call you mine
My heart's lighter thing
Since you made me this night a thing divine
In A Sentimental Mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
For I never dreamt
That you'd be loving sentimental me
In A Sentimental Mood
I can see the stars come thru my room
While your loving attitude
Is like a flame that lights the gloom
On the wings of ev'ry kiss
Drift a melody so strange and sweet
In this sentimental bliss you make my
Paradise complete
Rose pearls seem to fall
It's all like a dream to call you mine
My heart's lighter thing
Since you made me this night a thing divine
In A Sentimental Mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
For I never dreamt
That you'd be loving sentimental me

Man, 1:18 to 1:27 where Bill merges the cadence of the head into the first solo pass...so good. Sparse and yet rich and witty, and of course elegant in a Baroque way as Bill so often is. This whole first pass is so tasteful.

Getting a very bluesy feel off this :) not something you hear often in his music
Aidan McBride
This is a really bluesy tune

Agreed, good observation. I think that's due to the blues scale inherent in the melody (head) itself. You get the full blues scale, out of order, in the fourth bar: 5 - 7 - 8 - b5 - 4 - 3 - 1.
