Don't You
Billy Idol Lyrics

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Watching oh yeah

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing and you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out, out
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
I'll get us back together at heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't don't don't don't
Don't you forget about me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way and never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Would you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Watching oh yeah

Don't you try and pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing and you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't you forget about me
Don't don't don't don't
Don't you forget about me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
(as you walk on by)

Or will you walk on by?
Will you walk away?
Come on call my name
Come on call my name
Will you call my name?

I say
La la la.

Will you walk on by?
Would you call my name?
As you walk on by
Would you call my name?
When you walk on by?
Oh yeah
Come on and call my name
As you walk on by
Hey baby call my name!
When you walk on by
Would you call my name
Yeah, yeah, yeah

This version isn't bad but after hearing simple minds all these years, Billy's voice doesn't seem to fit.

Crimson King

The guy who wrote this song worked with Billy on other songs that Billy released.
When producers of "The Breakfast Club"were looking for someone to record it for the movie it was offered to Bryan Ferry then Billy. However, for whatever reasons those choices didn't work out. Then Simple Minds was asked to record it and they almost passed due to their desire to only record music written by them. They eventually gave in and the rest is history....馃槈

It's really good, but I've heard the Simple Minds version so many times that it just doesn't sound right. But if this version had come first, then I would probably be saying the same thing in reverse.

Forsey next offered "Don't You (Forget About Me)" to Bryan Ferry, then to Billy Idol, whom Forsey was producing at the time, but both declined

it seems a bit tame for billy ...it feels like a reverse of a cover..its ok

simple minds' has those melancholic overtones that are pretty much the entire point of the song, and this version doesn't, but whatever music is totally subjective

This is a very good version but it's extremely difficult to top the original on this one

I much prefer the rebellious vibe of this version, which fits the final frame of the film perfectly.

Still a good, enjoyable cover, although I myself, also enjoy the Simple Minds鈥 version a lot more.
