At the age of 9, Billy Jr. performed during The 1st International Song Festival in Rio de Janeiro, and recorded singing with the group Quarteto em Cy (known in the U.S. as The Girls From Bahia), produced by Aloysio de Oliveira and Oscar Castro-Neves.
When turning 14, Billy Jr. started playing the guitar, studying with the best teachers in Rio. At 18, influenced by Elton John, he starts studying piano.
At 21, he moved to New York City, where he fixed residency for 6 years. There, he took a Piano credit at the Julliard School, and as a member of the band Visitor, recorded with Yoko Ono at the Record Plant Studios, NY, produced by Roy Cicala. He also went on tour with the legendary Richie Havens, of Woodstock fame. Billy Jr. also pursued a solo career playing for two solid years his Bossa Nova and “piano-man” repertoire for sold-out audiences at the City Lights Club in Greenwich Village and at the Rare Form on the Upper West Side. He wrote jingles for advertising and studied drama with Michael Beckett at the HB Studios.
