I’m fighting every day
They keep telling me that I’m good for nothing
Why am I doing this to me?
If I keep in mind
That my mind is free
Then I wouldn’t mind
I wouldn’t mind being me
I’m getting better day by day
They keep telling me
That I’m nothing special
Why am I doing this to me?
Why am I doing this to me?
If I keep in mind
That my mind is free
Then I wouldn’t mind
I wouldn’t mind being me
There’s nothing holding me back
It’s just a voice in my head
There’s nothing holding me back
There’s nothing holding me back
It’s just a voice in my head
There’s nothing holding me back
If I keep in mind
That my mind is free
Then I wouldn’t mind
I wouldn’t mind being me
The song "Shadows" by Bird seems to be about fighting with one's own self-doubt and insecurities. The lyrics suggest that the singer is struggling with negative thoughts that are constantly telling them that they are not good enough or special. The shadows in the singer's head can be interpreted as a metaphor for the inner demons that we all battle with at some point in our lives. The song appears to be a reminder that we are all capable of overcoming these negative thoughts if we keep in mind that our minds are free and open to positive thoughts and self-acceptance.
The repetitive phrase "Why am I doing this to me?" suggests that the singer is aware that these negative thoughts are self-imposed and that they have the power to overcome them. The phrase "There’s nothing holding me back, it’s just a voice in my head" further reinforces this idea that the shadows are not real, and that they only have the power that we give them. The singer is getting better day by day, as they continue to work on their struggle with inner demons.
Overall, the song "Shadows" by Bird can be seen as a powerful reminder to keep persevering despite inner struggles. By acknowledging and accepting these shadows, we can learn to overcome them and become our best selves.
