Here I Stand
Bitty McLean Lyrics

Run round the bend and go tell your friend, oh
Bitty him come back again, oh
Come back again
Here I stand all alone in this lonely room
Looking for someone to call my own
Here I stand all alone
Everything seems strange to me
All my friends turn their back on me, yeah
Turn their back on me
'Cause of their unpurity, yeah yeah
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, say
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, say
Let me tell ya, don't you know, don't you know
Don't you know, don't you know I love you so
In these times of prosperity
Friends are plenty, believe me
In the times of misfortune
Not one of plenty, hey
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, man
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, yeah
Don't you know, don't you know
Don't you know, don't you know I love you so
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, believe
Yet I stand, true man stand predominant, yeah ah
Don't you know, don't you know
Don't you know, don't you know
Don't you know, don't you know I need you so
Don't you know I love you so
Don't you know I need you so
The lyrics to Bitty McLean's "Here I Stand" speak to the challenges of being true to oneself and maintaining one's values in the face of adversity. The opening lines, "Old time something come back again / Run round the bend and go tell your friend, oh / Bitty him come back again, oh / Come back again," refer to a return to an old way of doing things, perhaps a return to the values that the singer holds dear. 'Bitty' is likely a nickname for the singer himself, further emphasizing the personal and introspective nature of the song.
The lyrics go on to describe the singer's isolation and search for someone to call his own. He feels like an outsider, with even his friends turning their backs on him due to their impure motives. However, despite these challenges, the singer remains true to himself and resolute in his convictions. The repeated refrain of "Yet I stand, true man stand predominant" emphasizes this, and serves as a declaration of the singer's fortitude in the face of adversity.
The song's message is one of resilience and determination, and it serves as a call to listeners to stay true to their own values and beliefs. It also speaks to the importance of staying grounded and self-assured in the face of difficulty.

I am 100% BRITISH born Sistah from London, England UK. I grew up in the 70s... 80s.. 90s... with the Original 'LOVERS ROCK' Reggae music and Studio One sound. Saturday night house party's blue lights in the basement rub-a-dub grind on the basement wall. Sweeet lovers music... baby making music. On Saturday mornings me and my girlfriends would catch bus and go down to Brixton market to the reggae music shop to buy all the latest Lovers Rock sound. Anyhow, all said.. Bitty McLean "YOU GOT THIS BOO..." to be so young and appreciate the sound you kind of remind me of Alton Ellis -- you took me back down to sweet memory lane I am kinda teary eyes right now. Lovers Rock music originally started in the UNITED KINGDOM study the history. This new Lovers Rock sound out now today cannot even come close compare to what I grew up with. Again.... Bitty McLean 'nailed the sound down'. OMG so sweet and beautiful I just keep playing over and over. Thanks again, Bitty and CHEERS mate...!!!
