Moonlight
BlackGryph0n & BAASIK Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where the wind stands still, there's an emerald hill
And I'm standing here, alone.

Where the dark trees bow to the higher ground
Where the grass has never grown.

Where it's dark, and cold,
And the scattered stars are the only light that I know,
Oh, but they tell me that I'm home.

And so I'm standing out in the moonlight
And if you follow me I follow you.
Standing out in the moonlight
And if you follow me I'll follow you, I'll follow you.

It's been a long long time since the stars aligned
And they sent me back, again

And every day I dream maybe things could be
Like they used to be back then

Cause it's dark, and cold.
And the scattered stars are the only friends I know
Oh, but they tell me that there's hope.

That's why I'm standing out in the moonlight
And if you follow me I follow you.
Standing out in the moonlight,
And if you follow me I'll follow you. I'll follow you.

Shouting out in the moonlight,
And if you follow me I'll follow you.
Shouting out in the moonlight,
And if you follow me I'll follow you.

I'm right here, I'm right here.

Out in the moonlight

And you know I'll always follow you.
I'll follow you.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Moonlight" by BlackGryph0n & BAASIK describe a mysterious, mystical place where nature seems to play by its own rules. The song opens with the image of an emerald hill, where the wind stands still and the singer is alone. The surrounding trees bow down to the higher ground, and the grass has never grown there. It's a place where it's perpetually dark and cold, and the only light comes from the scattered stars in the sky. Despite this, the singer feels a sense of belonging, as if this place is home.

The second verse of the song implies that the singer has been away from this place for a long time, and is yearning to return to the way things used to be. But even though it's dark and cold and the singer is isolated, the stars provide some hope that things will get better. In the chorus, the singer stands out in the moonlight, inviting the listener to follow them. The repetition of "I'll follow you" reinforces the sense of belonging and alliance that the singer feels.

The final verse includes the lyrics "shouting out in the moonlight," which suggests that the singer is not alone anymore. They have found someone to share this mystical place with, someone who will always follow them. Overall, the lyrics of "Moonlight" create a sense of mystery, wonder, and a desire for connection.

@SpicePrincess1890

I just discovered this, and I was gonna say that lol As a huuuuge 11 year Owl City fan, I was pleasantly surprised. This is very 2008-2010 era Owl City for sure!
Actually, if you like this, and you like Owl City I would also suggest checking out Sub.Sound because he's another similar artist.

@nightfox-7773

Haha I was thinking the same thing! Have you guys heard Gabe's other song "Crusader (Are We There Yet)"? It also really sounds like an owl city song 😃

@hallelujahbrony3263

This is favorite song on the album. This really is the perfect song for driving at night. The beat is relaxing, yet the pacing keeps me alert. There is a reason why this is the perfect road trip music for me.

***** What if you were actually reading his mind, and not the other way around?

@BrokenLifeCycle

"Discooooord~ I'm howling at the moon,
and sleeping in the middle of a summer afternoon..."

This goes to show how tightly woven the brony community is.

Is my logic very strange?
