Hellfire
BlackRain Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey there! I' m coming home, the nightmare just begins.
Images flash before my eyes but I'm not allowed to confess my sins
Sleepless nights ahead, I relive the torture in my bed
My heart beats too fast again, no matter what, the battle never ends

I saw my brothers taking their last breath
I met the reaper too many times
I looked straight into the eyes of death
Sometimes for my own crime

Hellfire
Consumes me
Hellfire
Look at the ghost of me

Those things you complain about don't make much sense to me
I don't belong here and it freaks me out, I'm pieces of what I used to be

I'm back but so far away, those things scroll across my head, over and over
If I could face my doomsday, one last time, I'd pull the trigger

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Hellfire" by BlackRain detail the struggles of a soldier returning home from war. The opening lines set the tone for the song, as the singer declares that he is coming home, but the nightmare is just beginning. He is haunted by the memories of the violence and trauma he experienced during his time in combat, but he is not able to share these experiences due to the societal pressure that soldiers should be strong and unbreakable. The soldier admits to experiencing sleepless nights and flashbacks, and despite the end of the war, the battle still rages on for him.

The chorus of the song, which repeats the word "Hellfire" several times, suggests that the singer is consumed by a fiery internal struggle. The second verse further elaborates on his experiences, as he reflects on the many times he has faced death and watched his brothers in arms die. He acknowledges that he is not blameless in these experiences, as he has committed his own crimes during the war. The haunting refrain of "look at the ghost of me" underscores his sense of being forever changed by his experiences.

The final verse reveals the singer's ultimate desire: to face his own doomsday and perhaps end his own life. He feels as though he is only a shadow of who he once was, and the images that constantly scroll across his head are too much to bear. The song ends on a bleak note, with the singer expressing a sense of resignation and defeat.

@Shaggzila

This style never died! Its always been around its just not pushed because assholes like MTV and music journalist wanted it dead. Loud N Nasty was formed in 1998, Crashdiet in 2000. Loud N Nasty is gone but Rob Nasty is now in a band called Danger. Crashdiet is still going strong. Plenty of more bands around too. Santa Cruz, Sister, Sister Sin, Danger, Reckless Love, Toxic Rose, Frenchkiss, Nasty Habit, Peepshow/States of Panic, Wild Street, Panzer Princess, Gunner/Gunner Six, Jailbait, Foxey, Dynzasty, H.E.A.T., Crazy Lixx and more

Dusk Riffs Although this seems strange to you, it is because of people like you and their stupid taste for mediocre music that this style of metal will come back stronger than ever.

@the80s87

Dusk Riffs I never mentioned anything about the "ability" to play this style of Rock. And if you think that music today is an improved version of ancient music ... well, that shows that you are not in full use of your mental faculties, if you have them.

@the80s87

Dusk Riffs Your last answer only confirms what I had mentioned above.

It’s like I just stepped back into 1987. It’s nice to see the spirit of 80’s metal live on.

@tincanmany

@naderbakhoum7804
