Last Time
Black Dub Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

Well, it may be the last time you hear me sing
It may be my last time I don't know
Well, it may be the last time you hear me sing
It may be my last time I don't know

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

Well, it may be the last time you hear me preach
It may be my last time I don't know
Well, it may be the last time you hear me preach
It may be my last time I don't know

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

This may be my last time
This may be my last time
This may be my last time
It may be my last time I don't know

Oh yeah, it may be
It sure may be

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Black Dub's song "Last Time" are a contemplation on mortality and the uncertainty of the future. The repetition of the phrase "this may be my last time" serves as a reminder that life is unpredictable and that we should cherish every moment. The singer acknowledges that they don't know when their final moment will come, but they want to make the most of the time they have. The lines "it may be the last time you hear me sing/preach" suggest that the singer is a musician or perhaps a religious figure who wants to make an impact before their time is up.

The repetition of the phrase "this may be my last time" also creates a sense of urgency and tension. The singer is grappling with the finality of death and is trying to come to terms with the fact that they may not have much time left. The repetition of the phrase also emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment and not taking anything for granted. The repetition is a reminder that life is fleeting and that we should appreciate every moment we have.

Overall, "Last Time" is a poignant reminder that life is precious and that we should make the most of every moment. The song encourages listeners to appreciate what they have and to not take anything for granted, as tomorrow is never guaranteed.

This is one of my favorites videos! Trixie looks like she is having a lot of fun drumming, and it is a great groove.

Amazing take. Unselfish, complimentary, collaborative, and unbelievable grooves. Thank you for this.

@funkygoldensoul you said it right. So, so hard to find truly wonderful music like this. I saw them at the Camden shows last week and they didn't disappoint live, even after a long tour. The standout song in the show for me was Daniel Lanois' "The Maker" in the encore. Vocal harmonies that just go right through you.
