Black Tongue Lyrics

Men will beg for death
They'll beg for death
They'll never see the sun rise so let it set
And in those days at the end of the darkest road
Crying for their mothers to take them home
There's nothing left
There's nothing left
So set a fire in my flesh
Men will beg for death
They will beg for death
They will not find it
The Reaper flees from them like a shadow flees from the flame
They will not (they will never) find it
The Reaper flees from them like a shadow flees from the flame
This is what I've seen in the darkest parts of me
But don't get me wrong, I'm not a prophet
When the ground collapses beneath our feet
There's nothing we can do to stop it
"And the fifth angel sounded and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth.
And to him was given the key to the bottomless pit."
Every night I pray
Please God let me die in my sleep
Or at least kill the voices in my head
There is no release
No respite
No peace
No place for a wretch like me
I throw myself into the sea
There is no release
No respite
No peace
No place for a wretch like me
Fragments of what once were beautiful minds are now scattered and fucking lost
This madness
A chamber of despair
Must be filled
Whatever the cost
This madness must end
Beg for death
Eclipse the world
We are the sun that cannot rise
Eclipse the world
We are the son that's born to die
This is what I've seen in the darkest parts of me
But don't get me wrong, I'm not a prophet
When the ground collapses beneath our feet
There's nothing we can do to stop it
This is what I've seen in the darkest parts of me
But don't get me wrong, I'm not a prophet
When the ground collapses beneath our feet
There's nothing we can do to stop it
Fuck
The lyrics to Black Tongue's song "Eclipse" offer a bleak perspective on the end of the world. The singer sees humanity begging for death in the face of an apocalyptic event that they cannot stop. The imagery of "crying for their mothers to take them home" suggests a loss of agency and a desire to return to a state of dependency. The repetition of "there's nothing left" emphasizes the hopelessness of the situation. The singer pleads for release from their own inner demons, but finds no respite or peace. The madness they experience must be filled, whatever the cost.
However, despite the intense darkness of the lyrics, the singer is careful to distance themselves from any prophetic claims. They do not claim to have special insight into the future. Instead, they seem to be using the apocalyptic imagery as a metaphor for their own struggles with mental illness. The end of the world becomes a stand-in for the feeling of being trapped in one's own mind, fighting a losing battle against the demons within.
The repeated chorus of "eclipse the world" suggests a desire to obliterate everything, to end the pain and suffering once and for all. However, the final lines of the song remind us that there is nothing we can do to stop the inevitable. Like the ground collapsing beneath our feet, the end will come whether we want it to or not.
Overall, Black Tongue's "Eclipse" paints a picture of a world consumed by darkness and despair, with no hope for redemption.

sure, it's dead simple, but what makes black tongue awesome is their ability to put so much atmosphere in their songs. It's not just a bunch of breakowns hastily put together, it's planned out, making an eerie groove.

Just so everyone is aware before saying they are boring or unskilled, the drummer and guitarists are originally from infant annihilator so it's a choice not a lack of skill to sound this way. Plus the vocals are quite fantastic and have a large amount of presence when you compare to similar bands.
