Blacklite District is originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota, and was founded by guitarist Kyle Pfeiffer, and vocalist Roman James. After years of writing songs and playing live in the Black Hills area, Kyle and Roman were discovered by Grammy Award-winning producer, Stephen Short in early 2011. This brought upon two new members to bring into the equation, bassist Chauncey “CK” Köchel, and session drummer Matt O'Rourke. CK and Matt began rehearsing with the band in the weeks leading up to entering the world’s largest residential recording studio, Sonic Ranch. With producer Stephen Short and engineer Charles Godfrey on board, Blacklite District recorded their 7-track debut album, “This is Where it Ends”, in the summer of 2011.
Following the completion of the album, the band relocated to Los Angeles, and has accomplished a lot in a short period of time. On September 30, the group's first single, "I'm Stil Right Here", debuted at Active Rock Radio in 5 states in the Midwest on X-ROCK 101.1 (KDDX), where it eventually hit the Top 20. On October 28, BLD debuted live at the World Famous Whisky A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA. On 11-11-11, "This is Where it Ends" went on sale to digital retailers and has so far gotten rave reviews.
With a debut album out worldwide, a hit single at radio, and up-coming tour dates, it’s sure to say that this band strives for success. “We look forward to touring and getting our music out there,” says singer Roman James. “We know people are going to dig what they hear, especially if they’re tired of all the generic sounding music being released in todays 'sub-par' music industry.” Blacklite District combines heaviness with catchiness and has a distinct sound that separates them from other bands.
In early 2012, the band began a monumental promotion campaign in support of "This is Where it Ends", which will continue through out the year. The band's second single, "Left Behind", will be released to radio in new markets.
In the fall of 2012, BLD relocated from Hollywood, CA to Orlando, FL after signing a new management deal with famed Creed and Paramore manager Jeff Hanson, and will release a new album in late 2012 on Silent Majority Group/Warner Music Group.

Gotta Get Outta Here
Blacklite District Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Feels like I'm half alive
I′ve been holding back all my life
This is my chance to rise
So hold on tight
We leave tonight
Turn out the light
I'm on my way
Gotta get out of here
It's not too late
Comin′ in crystal clear
I′m on my way
Feels like a thousand years
Gotta get out of here
Keep your eyes open, look ahead
Be careful where you tread
Warning lights have been glowing red
I can't live with regret
So hold on tight
We leave tonight
Turn out the light
I′m on my way
Gotta get out of here
It's not too late
Comin′ in crystal clear
I'm on my way
Feels like a thousand years
Gotta get out of here
I′m on my way
Gotta get out of here
It's not too late
Comin' in crystal clear
I′m on my way
Feels like a thousand years
Gotta get out of here
The lyrics of "Gotta Get Outta Here" by Blacklite District convey a sense of restlessness and a desire for change. The singer has been feeling paralyzed and half alive for a long time, holding back and not fully living their life. However, they see this moment as an opportunity to rise and break free from their stagnant situation.
The repetition of the phrase "I'm on my way, gotta get outta here" emphasizes the urgency and determination of the singer to escape their current circumstances. They feel like they have been stuck for what feels like a thousand years, and they recognize that it's not too late to make a change. The warning lights have been glowing red, possibly indicating that the singer has ignored signs of trouble or unhappiness for a while, and now they can no longer live with regret.
The chorus encourages the listener to hold on tight as they leave tonight, symbolizing the start of a new journey. The line "Turn out the light" may represent leaving behind the darkness or negativity of their past and embracing a brighter future.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of empowerment and determination to break free from a stagnant situation and embark on a new path towards self-discovery and fulfillment.
