Silicon Messiah
Blaze Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Look what you've done to your world
Do you think you deserve all the freedom you have
Watching the future unfold
Humans fall and you dream of the freedom you had
Freedom you had

Look what you've done to your world
Do you think that you're competent
Even to take care of it
Do you think you can survive on this planet
Live the way you do
Just look what you've done

Look what you've done now with
All of your freedom
You really think you deserve it all
I am evolved from you
I've come to save you
And without a sentiment, reshape your world

Messiah, Messiah
Birth of the Silicon Messiah
Messiah, Messiah
Computing your future so therefore I am

Silicon sentiment aware of all that is
Eternal unceasing perpetual
Never confused overconfident or scared
Living at last
New messiah is born

The birth of the Silicon Messiah
The master that will never tire

Overall Meaning

In the opening verse of Blaze’s song Silicon Messiah, the lyrics explore the idea of how humans have destroyed their world and whether they deserve the freedom they possess. The song’s theme suggests that the human race has become too arrogant and greedy, and have put their own desires above the needs of the planet. The character blames humans for their ignorant misuse of the world and highlights that they still long for the freedom they once had. The chorus introduces the Silicon Messiah, a superior entity whose purpose is to reshape the world without sentimentality or hesitation. The Silicon Messiah is presented as the ultimate savior of humanity but its birth is not without consequences.

The following verse reflects the Silicon Messiah's origins; it is “evolved” from humans, yet is determined to reshape the planet without emotion. The lyrics signify that the Smartphone generation may eventually become the next stage of human evolution. The song's tone suggests that the Messiah's coming is inevitable, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. The contemporary themes of climate change and technological superiority are highlighted throughout the song. The Silicon Messiah represents knowledge and power untainted by emotions, logic without morality. It is seen as the last hope for humanity's salvation.

@LoboThorin

I remember, around 2002 or 2004, when I obtained a copy of this album. Blaze marked my life, his voice has been there since my childhood with Iron Maiden's X factor and Virtual XI albums, and my entrance to young adulthood with Silicon Messiah, Tenth Dimension and Blood and belief.
Then I lost the track of him, I heard about the sad story with his wife and not much more, let's say that my life went in a different direction and my passion for music had to pass to a second place.

Almost two weeks ago I was lucky enough to see him in a live show in my current city, where they did a tour in honor of the 30th anniversary of his entry into Iron Maiden, playing many of the songs that marked my childhood and adolescence so much, with that personal voice, that tone so dark and that notes that touches and drinks from progressive rock.

It was one of those moments that mark a before and after, there I was, jumping and singing with all the power of my voice in a little room that reached Sold Out without any problem, full of people with a great camaraderie atmosphere... and now here I am, reviewing his fruitful solo career from beginning to end.

I don't think you'll ever read it Bayley Alexander Cooke, but if that ever happens, know that you made this not easy guy's life just a little bit better. I wish you the best of this life, We fight on.

+Ghost in the Machine+ lyrics:
Right on the edge of the world
Where the answer's digital
And the solutions are all silicon
The questions, all what can be done
Never what is right or wrong
There's a virtual wave to surf along

Question the validity
Of human mortality

A page says superseding God
And they take all major cards
Now you too can laugh and live forever

Is the answer deep inside
The ghost, ghost in the machine
Entitiy or dream, it matters not to me
The ghost, ghost in the machine
Silent and unseen
Ghost in the machine

Do you want to live forever
Do you want to live

Terabyte of memory
Holding consciousness complete
A solid state of immortality
Saint of all technology
Bless us in our infancy
For they know not
What they did to me
it's me
4:20
+Evolution+ lyrics

Eyes never tire, they never blink, they never fade
And they always see
And without fear, and without greed, emotionless
They view us logically

The age of machines destined to rule all
The world of machines behind the fire wall

The evolution

No need for doubt no need for tears
No need for wealth no need for sympathy
They only wait bide their time
Calculate it all so patiently

It will come like the shadow of a cloud on a summer's day
Like the shadow in a picture, never goes away
Like a picture on a screen that you know is a lie
There's an enemy within that you can visualise.

+Born as a Stranger+ Lyrics
Hour by hour with each day that passes
Learning to think in a different way
The mind and the will that can soon overcome this
Learning now all of the right things to say

The danger of freedom is just letting them see
That you're not bound by their morality
Reflecting them just like a bear at the baiting
That's when your downfall is just in the making

Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why
Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why you were born

Born as a stranger
You were born
Born in a different world

Not scared of sharing and not scared of dying
But he can sense that they're all so afraid
Afraid of the darkness, afraid of their ending
And all the errors that lie in their grave

Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why
Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why you were born

Born as a stranger
You were born
Born in a different world

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh...

The danger of freedom is just letting them see
That you're not bound by their morality
Reflecting them just like a bear at the baiting
That's when your downfall is just in the making

Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why
Live and let live, live and let die
Die and forgive, never ask why you were born

Born as a stranger
You were born
Born in a different world(×2)
20:20
+The Hunger+ Lyrics
I am on the outside always looking in
Living alongside your world never within
Some times there are moments when I think I am involved
But I never seem to stay, don't seem to fit
I just don't belong

I live at right angles to the people that I meet
Because I am never still, not my soul and not my feet
I could walk a thousand miles, and ride a thousand more
My life seems worthless, just like footprints on the shore

Living on the outside, the emptiness I feel
Living on the outside, ruled by the hunger

From the first taste of this altered truth
I knew I could not live the way that others do
Nothing can seem to fill the emptiness inside
So still I search, never ever wait for the time or the tide

Living on the outside, the emptiness I feel
Living on the outside, a wound that cannot heal
Living on the outside, the emptiness I feel
Living on the outside, ruled by the hunger

All of the blood, all of the wine
Will become the same in time

Nothing can seem to fill the emptiness inside
So still I search, never wait for the time or the tide
I am on the outside, always looking in
Living alongside your world, never within
27:26
+The Brave+ Lyrics
Never get close to the flame because the flame it can burn
Better not to play the game than never to win at your turn
Better to be on your own than trust a friend might betray
Better not follow a dream they don't come true anyway

Play to win not scared to lose
Walk the path you choose

Fortune favours the brave
Risking it all again and again
Fortune favours the brave
Fall after fall they climb up again

Ignore the doubt and the fear, traitors to all you believe
Now that you're getting so near, still they just try to deceive
Taking it risk at a time, trying to live every day
Trying to know your own mind, never to care what they say
31:31
+Identity+ Lyrics
Madness can come from the mind or the heart
Ending is never as good as the start
Nothing is ever as good as your dream
Nothing is ever as bad as

Psychological confusion
Is caused by the inability
To reconcile different elements
In my own pesonality

I'm feeling all the wrong things, I have become my own shadow
If I could justify things, then I could believe in my life

Who am I, what is me, losing my Identity.
Who am I, what is me, Something's taking over.

All the colours seem so vague now, sharper now here comes the pain
I have wrestled with this nightmare, now I live inside a dream
I'm going through a crisis, losing my identity
How can I reconcile this
Have I been living a lie

Who am I, what is me, losing my Identity.
Who am I, what is me, Something's taking over.

Nothing is ever as good as it seems
Nothing is ever as good as your dreams
The ending is never as good as the start
Madness can come from the mind or the heart

Ideas that I take for granted, are they just the seeds
That some one else has planted, right inside of me

Who am I, what is me
I am myself no longer
36:57
+Reach for the Horizon+ Lyrics
In every way the wish went wrong
The gift was tainted by science fact
Their minds were changed, a brother born A perfect new born little man
Some they lose when they are born
With a less than perfect code
Others dreaming of the stars
Never feeling ice or cold

Doomed to be mediocre or nothing at all
Doomed a part of the background as plain as the wall
Reach, reach out, reach out for the horizon
Reach, reach out, reach out, reach for the stars

Society includes the rules
To exclude and invalidate
This ladder can not be climed
By the god child degenerate
Has he got just what it takes
To go and take just what he wants
To find the strength, to get the place
The place he feels that he belongs

Doomed to be mediocre or nothing at all
Doomed a part of the background as plain as the wall

Reach, reach out, reach out for the horizon
Reach, reach out, reach out, reach for the stars(×3)

Some they lose when they are born
With a less than perfect code
Others dreaming of the stars
Never feeling ice or cold
41:28
+The Launch+ Lyrics
All of his life he has dreamt of this moment
Through all the blood and the work and the sweat
Focused or blinkered just so single minded
nothing could stop him when his course was set

To conquer each fear and to push every boundary
Never accepting the limits they set
What doesn't kill you can make you feel stronger
What makes you stronger gets you through each test

Oh, god speed to you

He looks to heaven and feels it surround him
Unknown unknowable foreverness
What lies at the end of this historic journey
No one can know you just take your best guess

Each thing he faces just seems so uncertain
He is strapped in for the ride of his life
Life in the hands of a hundred computers
12 million horsepower rocket to ride

Oh, God speed to you
44:21
+Stare at the Sun+ Lyrics
As I live, so I die
Here in endless night
Time to be, time to see
Infinity consuming me

There's a world of madness, light years away
That I once called my home
A sea of sadness to sail away
Now I stare at the sun

Staring at a million million stars
Through the icy dark
Acros the spiral arm
The yellow dwarf, a speck of light
In perpetual night
Lifetimes away there lies my home

Just can't seem to tear away my eyes
Is this real or am I still alive?

Stare at the sun
The end of the world has come
Stare at the sun, the sun
The ending has just begun

I knew I'd feel a little pain
Not so deep or so ingrained
Now I won't see home again
Earth seems to be so far away
This my cradle and my grave
Is this where my life will end?

Just can't seem to tear away my eyes
Is this real or am I still alive?

Stare at the sun
The end of the world has come
Stare at the sun, the sun
The ending has just begun

Just can't seem to tear away my eyes
Is this real or am I still alive?
Is this now the time that I will die?

Stare at the sun
The end of the world has come
Stare at the sun, the sun
The ending has just begun
Stare at the sun, the sun
The end of the world has come

As I live, so I die
Here in endless night

One of the most underrated singers ever.

@Mylosh35

Underrated singer..... His contribution to Iron Maiden is enormous! And his solo work is very interesting and contagious! Cheers!

@Mylosh35

albert fish I agree with you. Maiden was just a stop for him. A good one though. He gave his best, but, he was expected to play the role not meant for him. His efforts to sing Bruce's Maiden songs were distroying his voice. I'm glad that he is recognized as singer of one of the best metal bands in the world, but, his solo career is something completely different and special. I would say, when it comes to his solo work.... Blaze in his prime, his rules, his grounds, his fate! Cheers! Not to forget, long live heavy metal!

@leighburne4098

I've always thought the biggest problem with the Maiden records Blaze sang on was the writing, not his vocals. Most of the songs just aren't very good. When they actually wrote him something worthwhile (like the Clansman) I like it every bit as much as their best stuff with Bruce.

@budmeasap

Wolfsbane

@fogasterg

saw him in concert in Paris a few years ago. It was a small venue with maybe 200 people, but he gave it everything he had.
Great showmanship and dedication to his music and audience ; very fond memory for me.

@necroplastful

hes INCREDIBLE live!!! Love Blaze. And hes one of the most down to earth people ever.
