I lost my dad this year (2022) to the war of drug addiction. He was only a couple weeks past 50 years old. I came upon this song today and it made me think of my dad. Before I lost my dad he came to visit me and my sister for his 50th birthday. While I listen to this song I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. My dad wasn't perfect, he had his problems in life and he battled with a lot of things. But he had a heart of gold and a warming smile. One day while I was at work I started to think of my dad and I started getting emotional and began to weap tears. I suddenly felt this powerful energy that shifted me. It was as if my dad, and God were standing there and each put a hand on my shoulder and said everything is going to be okay. That day changed everything for me. I already believed in God. But I never felt anything like that. To this day I wear a cross necklace with Phillipians 3:14 inscribed on it. This is my personal experience and I will never forget the day. I am here to tell you, if you are down and out or having a tough going don't forget that God is there. He is watching and everything happens for a reason. God is powerful in so many ways. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I felt I needed to get it out there. I guess I never really talked about this. God bless.

I've never seen the video before. My grandfather was a coal miner in Floyd County Kentucky, he died of a massive heart attack brought on by black lung disease. My uncles and a lot more of her family have worked in the mines for generations. We have lost family in the mines from gas, bad air, cave ins, flooding and explosions. God bless every single miner. They are strong men and I am proud of them. I live in north central Texas.

This song always brings unending tears to my eyes as it describes my own walk on this earth. I truly know loneliness, loosing loved ones and promises that always seem out of reach and almost forgotten. I lost both my parents in 2017 within just over 2 months from one another. It was surreal as the pastor, the coffin and the flowers where exactly the same... while I grieved for my father passing, I had to grieve all over again when my mom passed away. There are many seasons and much grief, but God gives you the strength and resolve to finish the race. The video from beginning to end describes my walk... from the forests where I want to go to escape life, to being in between trains and train stations (where the promises always feel out of reach) and walking towards the cross through all of it and the Lord at the end. Thank you for a song that does not describe fantasies and carrots at the end of a long string, but reflect true life following the Lord into His arms.

I like when Christian music is honest. Sometimes painfully honest. Because the Lord never promised us life would be easy or full of riches when we choose to follow him. But He did promise, and does promise, that there is something greater waiting on the other side if we follow Him. After working a long torturous day the week after my brother passed away this song was playing on the radio. It literally brought me to my knees before God. God showed me the restored earth in a dream once, from a hilltop. It looked like the one Toby is on in the video. In the dream, the grass is a deep, beautiful green, like Ireland without the clouds. Many, many years ago, I remember catching the end of a somewhat documentary on Toby Mac and DC Talk…and all I really remember is Toby talking about Jesus and those eyes. Years later I gave my life to Christ and the first Christian album I bought and listened to was Jesus Freak. In these 2 years of covid, God has blessed his faithful with much new spirit filled music. This past year I've lost my dad whom I hadn't been able to see for 4 years but got to go read him scripture and pray over him for several hours before he passed away. Within a week another good friend passed away, followed by four more by mid October. I don't remember a year like this, but for all of us who have suffered great loss, Jesus, you're our Promised Land and You comfort the time we have left.

As someone whose last 6-7 years have been gut-wrenching, with loss, betrayal and disappointment…this song really hits home. And I know I haven’t had the grief that Toby has, losing a child, so this song is personal for him too. And through it all, with tears in my eyes and that same sad sense of forlorn as Toby’s character has in this video, I still proclaim that He is my God. Even if he slay me, yet will I praise His name. You, oh God, are my promised land.

A true, moving tribute to his granddad, and it speaks to all hard working Americans. I had this song played at my son's celebration of life. He died by suicide at age 31. When he was a little boy he called me up to his room one day and said he wanted to give his heart to Jesus. We prayed and he was saved. Later he was baptized. He grew up in the church and went to college and became an alcoholic like his father. He had a heart of gold. Never hurt a soul. I struggled so much with his death, although I know the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy. Romans 8: 38 for I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. He is our intercessor. Thank you Lord Jesus!

My late father, was an honorable and honest man who worked hard all his life. After retiring, he would visit homes of those less fortunate and make repairs to their homes, help winterize them by installing insulation, etc. I will always remember what he said to me about four years before he died. We were discussing retirement, and he looked me right in the eyes and said: "What happened to the Golden Years we were always told we'd experience when we retired?" At that time, I didn't u derstand because he hid his and my late Mom's health issues from me, yet in retrospect, I now clearly understand what he meant. They're both in a lovely place now, yet sorely missed.
