And in the darkness
A voice rings out
Telling you how this hurts
So bad its time to give back
Everything you thought you had
Your life's mine now
Your not for the passion
Your just for the look
Inside your so black now
Unhealthy fixations
Rot you from the inside out
You should have thought!
You should have known
That I would be the first one
To let you know
Your life's mine now
Watch you die now
Your not for the passion
Your just for the look
Watch them as they fall around you
Were you pushed
Or did you fall?
Did they tell you this would
Last forever
I've heard you before
Hold on
Let go
Give in
Or die slow
Its time to let you know
Your life's mine now
Watch you die now
Your not for the passion
Your just for the look
Watch them as they fall around you
Were you pushed
Or did you fall?
Did they tell you this would
Last forever
I've heard you before
Its over
Its over
Watch them as they fall around you
Were you pushed
Or did you fall?
Did they tell you this would
Last forever
I've heard you before
Its over
The lyrics to Blindspott's song Coma are haunting and convey a sense of betrayal and deep pain. The opening lines suggest that the singer's light has gone out, which can be interpreted as a metaphor for losing hope or losing oneself. The darkness that ensues is accompanied by an ominous voice, which tells the singer how much they are hurting. The voice could represent a person or a force of negativity that is undermining the singer's sense of self-worth and agency. The voice goes on to say that it's time for the singer to give back everything that they thought they had, which could mean that the singer has been living a lie or is not living up to their potential.
The song takes on a darker tone as the lyrics become more accusatory. The singer declares that the other person's life is now theirs and that they will watch them die. This could suggest that the other person has done something to deserve this punishment, or it could be a sign of the singer's own descent into darkness. The lines "Your not for the passion, Your just for the look" suggest that the other person is superficial and only cares about their appearance, rather than their inner self.
The final lines of the song are repetitive, suggesting that the singer is stuck in a cycle of pain and betrayal. The repeated question "Were you pushed or did you fall?" could represent the singer's attempt to understand how they ended up in this situation. Overall, the song paints a bleak picture of a relationship that has gone sour and a person who feels helpless in the face of their own pain.
