The son of an artist, early on he found his passion was for music. A fan of a whole range of sounds, especially hip-hop, Blockhead steadily built a tremendous collection of tapes and later CDs from innumerable artists. After a brief stint as a rapper, he realized his calling was behind the boards and not on the mic, and from there he began to produce beats. Since making that decision, he's been one of the busiest producers out there, producing 9 tracks on Aesop Rock's critically acclaimed album Labor Days, and the majority of the tracks on his followup albums Dayllight EP, Fast Cars, Danger, Fire and Knives, and None Shall Pass. Blockhead has also been working with other indie giants such as Slug of Atmosphere, Murs, Mike Ladd and SA Smash. He also found time to complete a break beat album entitled Blockhead's Broke Beats, with 10 hard hitting instrumental tracks, which was released on Mush Records, the US home of cLOUDDEAD. Showing his artistic variety from only art-rap, Blockhead produced 2 tracks on the newly crowned Skribble Jam Battle Champ, MacLethal's full-length album. He does comedy too. He is a member of the Party Fun Action Committee whose hip-hop/comedy debut album was recently released on the legendary Def Jux.

This song transmit a context for me. I'm son of separated parents, so, the voice of the lady in the beginning it's like a childhood memorie of my grandma taking me and my brothers to the house of a cousin or neighbor. A kind of desperation on her voice, some tension, but it's a beautifull music with cool beats, that have sounds that reminds happyness, children naivety and the melancholy. Brings a sensibility about the reception of other people almost unknown that want to help, and dificcult times on life, that makes us better persons.

I first heard this album in rehab. ironically the rehab was called "The Camp". this song was my favorite one on the cd along with its raining clouds. I would go into deep thought when listening to this, idk why it just had that effect on me. and i think this cd had something to do with me wanting to better myself as a person. i still listen to this all the time.

So, I figured out that the first sample (The "Herbert, take your fingers out of your mouth" part) was a monologue called "The Children's Party in Philadelphia" by Ruth Draper! I haven't been able to find that specific sample that Blockhead used, but I found another clip of the same monologue and that's definitley it.
