Drive Me
Blodwyn Pig Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey there you in the hot rod car
Telling you babe you ain't got nothing on me
Just four wheels and a great big smile
Nothing in between us but a great long stretch of road

Come on put your foot down drive away
Come on drive me
Get faster why don't you change down
Cause you know i'm gonna overtake you baby in time
There's is a great bend just a mile ahead
Come on baby tell me if you change your mind

Come on put your foot down drive away
Come on drive me

Push that gas get out of here
Thought you were the center of the track one time before
Love me babe as i pass you by
If you are doing so playing the scene

Come on put your foot down drive away
Come on drive me
Come on drive me

Come on drive me
Come on drive me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blodwyn Pig's song Drive Me seem to be about a playful competition between two people driving on a long stretch of road. The first person, in a hot rod car, boasts to the second person that they have nothing on them, and they urge the second person to put their foot down and drive faster. The two engage in a race as the first person tells the second person to change gears and to push that gas. However, despite the race, there is an underlying sense of flirtation between the two people, as the first person urges the second person to love them as they pass by.

The song appears to have a bluesy rock feel to it, with powerful guitar riffs and a driving beat. The lyrics seem to capture the spirit of the open road and the thrill of driving. The playful competition between the two people driving is also reminiscent of the energy and excitement of rock and roll.

Interestingly, the song was originally released on Blodwyn Pig's second album, "Getting to This," in 1970. The band was formed by Mick Abrahams after his departure from Jethro Tull in 1968. The band's name comes from a combination of "Blodwyn," a Welsh name that means "flower," and "Pig," which is slang for "degenerate."
