"The Tide Is High" is a song by Blondie and Pat Benatar that speaks about a girl who believes that she is going to win the man she adores. She affirms that despite the ups and downs in life, she will stand her ground and will not give up on her desire to be with this man. Even though the man in question is presumably in high demand amongst other ladies, the girl states that she will wait patiently until her turn comes.
