Blood Thirsty began as a musical outlet for friends Derek Corzine and James Rich. Several demo ideas were recorded in the years after as simply raw death metal with melodic touches. In early-mid 2000's, some of the demo ideas we re-recorded and released via MySpace, but the project was later put on indefinite hiatus due to Derek's other band and music involvement with no real plans to revive it.
Finally, in the summer of 2013, Derek's friends in Oklahoma-based death metal band, Broken Flesh, renewed a fire for more high-quality death metal. With Derek's love for all things symphonic and extremely brutal, Blood Thirsty's sound morphed into a grandiose, epic sound with layers of 8-string guitar, multiple symphonic tracks, and an onslaught of powerful gutteral and shrieking extreme metal vocals.
Blood Thirsty's debut album, Sanguine River Absolution, was officially released on July 8, 2014

Mercy of the Storm
Blood Thirsty Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Cyclone of death is bearing down on you
Its mighty wind ripping flesh, creating a crimson hue
Jesus Christ provides the way out
Call on His name in your hour of need
Even wind and waves obey His command
Feel the waves crushing, pulling you under
Things once held precious are now torn asunder
Feel the fury subside
The weight of the storm is lifted
Holy Spirit gives peace inside
Rebuke the wind and waves
The tide has shifted
Storms in life will come
They continue to rage on and on
Don't be at the mercy of the storm
Make the storm be at your mercy
The lyrics of "Mercy of the Storm" by Blood Thirsty are a call to action for those who are facing the cyclones of life. The song references biblical verses that speak to the power and sovereignty of God in the face of danger and uncertainty. The opening line is a warning to the listener that death is on its way in the form of a storm that is crushing and deadly. However, the song continues with a message of hope that Jesus Christ can provide a way out.
The song encourages those in peril to call on the name of Jesus because even the wind and waves obey His command. Despite the strength and force of the storm, God alone has the power to set us free. The lyrics continue with a description of the overwhelming feeling of being pulled under by the waves, losing what once was held dear in life. However, at the song's climax, the fury of the storm subsides, and the weight of the storm is lifted. The Holy Spirit provides peace, and the storm's tide shifts.
In the end, the song advises the listener not to be at the mercy of the storm, but rather to make the storm be at their mercy. The lyrics are a reminder that while storms may come and go, we have the power to withstand them with the help of faith and a higher power.
