Annabel Lee
Blue Dahlia Lyrics

"It was many and many a year ago"
I ran through the green fields of Marietta to your door
"We loved with a love that was more than love
The angels not half so happy in heaven went envying you and me…"
Annabel Lee
I fly through Chattanooga, Calton,
Calhoun, Kingston and Big Shanty to Marietta
"We love with a love that was more than love
The angels not half so happy in heaven went envying you and me…"
Annabel Lee
"The moon never beams without bring me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee
The stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of my beautiful Annabel Lee"
The song "Annabel Lee" by Blue Dahlia is based on the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. The song describes a love between two individuals that is so intense, even the angels in heaven envy them. The first verse begins with the line "It was many and many a year ago," a direct quote from the poem, which sets the stage for the intense love story that is to follow. The singer then reminisces about running through the green fields of Marietta to the door of their beloved, Annabel Lee. The repetition of the phrase "We loved with a love that was more than love" emphasizes the depth of their connection.
In the second verse, the singer reflects on the years that have passed since their love began, and how they now fly through various cities to return to Marietta. The same repeated phrase from the first verse is used, showing that their love has remained strong over time. The third verse brings the moon and stars into the mix, highlighting the celestial nature of their love. The singer dreams about Annabel Lee when the moon is out, and even feels her presence when the stars rise.
Overall, the song "Annabel Lee" portrays a love that transcends time and space, with a poetic and melancholic tone that is reminiscent of the original poem.
