The son of a professional jazz musician, right from the start, Jamie Hutchings, the band's songwriter, lead singer and guitarist demonstrated a voracious appetite for musical ideas. With records that could range from noise scapes to tender ballads and crushing rock, the band was clearly outside the mainstream of music taste. After two albums plus several singles / EPs, the band left murmur and began making records independently.
Always known for their live show, Bluebottle Kiss continues to play infrequently in Australia, with Jamie Hutchings currently working on his second solo album.
Won't Forget

Lets me down
All the time
Find a switch
Kill the lights
Find a door
In my sights
There's three things
One is God
And one's a girl
And the rest
Can't define
There's no space
There's no time
See her face
Like a ghost
Floating up
When I'm down
But I'm not down
I'm just out anywhere
Feeding doubt
All the trains
All the girls
It's a blur
In my world
Can't define
What I say
Because my mind
It's in the way
Half asleep
All the time
While the wheels
Turn and grind
Digging holes
In the ground
Throwing gold
All around
But I won't forget
Sometimes I wish
I was a star
Floating high
Above the earth
Free of guilt
Free of lust
Free of mirth
Free of trust
But my soul
Lets me down
Lose control
But still can't
Find anything
That I know
So I drift
And let go
And I don't wish
That I was dead
Because life's a gift
That I dread
What to do
And what to say
It doesn't matter anyway
And just wait
Without a doubt
I'm the one
Who you should shout
Shout me down
In the woods
Where you know
You never should
You never should
The song "Won't Forget" by Bluebottle Kiss is a reflection on the complexities and contradictions of the human mind. The lyrics suggest that the singer's mind is both a source of frustration and inspiration, as it often leads him astray but also provides him with moments of clarity and insight. The song begins with the singer expressing his frustration with his own mind, which "lets him down all the time." He then describes three things that are floating around in his mind - God, a girl, and an undefined third element. The singer goes on to describe how the image of the girl floats up, like a ghost, when he is feeling down, but he insists that he is not really down, just "feeding doubt" and feeling lost in his own thoughts.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a desire to be free of the burdens of life - guilt, lust, and trust - and to float high above the earth as a star. However, he also acknowledges that his own soul often lets him down, and he struggles to find meaning or purpose in his existence. Ultimately, the song seems to suggest that the singer is resigned to his fate, waiting without a doubt for whatever comes next.
Overall, "Won't Forget" is a haunting and introspective song that explores the complexities of the human mind and the struggles of the soul. It offers a glimpse into the inner thoughts and emotions of the singer, and invites the listener to reflect on their own inner lives and the challenges they face in navigating their own thoughts and feelings.
