Currently, the group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999.
While Blues Traveler is best known among fans for their improvisational live shows, the general public is most familiar with the group from their Top 40 singles "Run-Around" and "Hook". They gained mainstream popularity after their fourth studio album four, released in 1994. Sheehan's death and Popper's struggle with obesity put a damper on the group's success, and A&M dropped the band in 2002.
Money Back Guarantee
Blues Traveler Lyrics

And schoolyard rules
When nothing's yours it's simple to plan your escape
From all of those fools
And suddenly you get your way
And you're kicking yourself
If wishes were money I'd still lose more than I keep
And that might just be me
But consequence would be interest and it would be steep
And nothing is free
It's a small cost to dream
But there's no refund for nightmares
It would seem
Careful what you've bought
Don't you look to no warranties
You own what you have wrought
Ain't no money back
Money back guarantee
Well I guess life ain't fair
But I know life don't care
And there's no one to blame
From on high to the lowly
For if you're loved or you're lonely
It's the one and only game
Careful what you've bought
And don't you look to no warranties
You own what you have wrought
Your money back guarantee
Or reprieves
So please
I'm down on my knees
Believe me
Don't you try
To deny
Any lie you might buy
Is deceiving
Ain't no leaving for free
So you've got all your ducks in a row
Have you figured out what you owe
Until you settle your bill
It won't let you go
Careful what you've bought
And don't you look to no warranties
You own what you have wrought
Ain't no money back
Money back guarantee
The lyrics to Blues Traveler's “Money Back Guarantee” provide some valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of careful decision-making and responsibility for one's actions. The song begins by reflecting on the simplicity of childhood, where one can easily dream of escaping the mundane school routine and playground rules. However, the song takes a sharp turn towards adulthood as it understands the complexities of life where nothing comes for free, and every action has its consequences.
The singer warns the listener to be conscious of their decisions and not expect any kind of warranty or refund if things go wrong. The line “It's a small cost to dream, but there's no refund for nightmares” highlights the very nature of life, where it is easy to dream but challenging to live up to those dreams. The song also emphasizes that every decision, whether good or bad, comes at a cost, and it's essential to take responsibility for one's actions.
The lyrics finally uphold the idea that life is an unpredictable game where no one is at fault, and one must take control of the situation they're in. The phrase, “You own what you have wrought,” suggests that we have nobody to blame but ourselves if we find ourselves in an unfavorable situation.
With its poignant lyrics and upbeat melody, “Money Back Guarantee” serves as an eye-opener for those who may be unaware of the decisions they're making and why they matter. The song teaches us that our decisions have consequences and that whatever we're dreaming about or planning, it comes with a cost.

I'm not sure its saying any of that. It's saying that he/they can write a song that is absolute gibberish, but if the song has a good hook, you will listen to it over and over. The lyrics say over and over the song is just him saying random stuff, but he knows that it is the song's hook that matters, not the lyrics.
I will go on all day
Hear what I say
I have a prayer to pray
That's really all this was
And when I'm feeling stuck and need a buck
I don't rely on luck
Because the hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook
On that you can rely

@bryank971 go back a bit further
There is something amiss
I am being insincere
In fact I don't mean any of this
Still my confession draws you near
To confuse the issue I refer
To familiar heroes from long ago
He's warning you he's trolling with the Peter Pan line
