Blur's self-titled fifth album (1997) saw another stylistic shift, influenced by the lo-fi styles of American indie rock groups, and became their third UK chart-topping album. Its single "Song 2" brought the band mainstream success in the US for the first time. Their next album, 13 (1999) saw the band experimenting with electronic and gospel music, and featured more personal lyrics from Albarn. Their seventh album, Think Tank (2003), continued their experimentation with electronic sounds and was also shaped by Albarn's growing interest in hip hop and world music, featuring more minimal guitar work. Coxon left the band during early recording sessions for Think Tank, and Blur disbanded for several years after the end of the album's associated tour, with the members engaged in other projects.
In 2009, Blur reunited with Coxon back in the band and embarked on a European reunion tour. In the following years, they released several singles and compilations and toured internationally. In 2012, they received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. Their eighth album, The Magic Whip (2015), was the sixth consecutive Blur studio album to top the British chart. The group have largely been on hiatus since the Magic Whip tour, but have announced plans to reunite in 2023 for various live dates.

Into Another
Blur Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It makes no inference of difference
It still won't see it's his
Faint from lack of air
It makes a whistle with a twistle
But no one can hear
I didn't stay long
I had to go away to stay
So I'm happy here
Cause here is where the heart is
I know you think that too
Into another
You and me
Am I dead?
Sleep in Harlow's bed
Into another
You and me
Am I dead?
Sleep in Harlow's bed
Listening to our tune
With headphone and volume on
I can read your lips
And in a clinical term
"I hear," it said
"Everything is beautiful, but nothing hurt"
Into another
You and me
Am I dead?
Sleep in Harlow's bed
Into another
You and me
Am I dead
Sleep in Harlow's bed
The lyrics in "Into Another" by Blur are somewhat enigmatic and allow for multiple interpretations. The first verse begins with a sense of detachment, as the lyrics say "It makes no inference of difference, it still won't see it's his." These lines could be referencing a failing relationship or a sense of disillusionment with the world. The following line, "Faint from lack of air," seems to suggest that the singer is struggling to breathe or express themselves. This feeling continues in the next line, which talks about making a "whistle with a twistle," but no one can hear. This could represent a failed attempt at communication, or a sense of disconnection from others.
The second verse references leaving somewhere quickly, with the lyrics saying "I had to go away to stay, as long as I could." The following lines are more optimistic, saying "So I'm happy here, cause here is where the heart is, I know you think that too." This could be a reference to finding a sense of home or belonging, or finding happiness within oneself. The chorus repeats the same lines "Into another, you and me, am I dead? Sleep in Harlow's bed," which adds to the dreamlike, surreal quality of the song. The final lines, "I can read your lips, and in a clinical term, 'I hear,' it said, 'Everything's beautiful, but nothing hurt,'" could be a reference to finding peace within oneself or in a relationship.
Overall, "Into Another" is a song that inspires interpretation and introspection. The lyrics contain evocative images and phrases that can be read in many different ways.
