Bob & Barn are the nicknames of Paul "Bob" Arnold and Andrew "Barn" Barnabas, a couple of affable chaps who've been writing music professionally and involved in all manner of sound related paraphernalia since 1990.
Formerly heads of audio, music directors etc. of various emminent institutions - Sony being one of them, they left the convenience of corporations and formed a "sound company for the new millennium" in 2001.
With a heady combination of passion, single mindedness in increasing recognition and importance of video game soundtracks, tech savvy, business acumen and a keen sense of fun and "not taking ourselves too seriously" they've managed to carve an egg shaped niche into the heart of the media world.
From writing film scores to producing McDonalds jingles with 4 award nominations in the first 5 months of 2004 alone (one of them a BAFTA) you can start to get a feel of the kind of company that uses a fried egg as its logo.
They're now positioning themselves as the company which "does it live".
Be it orchestral, funk or jazz you want it to sound like the real thing, not a limited sampled recreation.
B&B are first and foremost, trained classical musicians and in an interesting twist on brand irony, are keen to bring classical sensibilities to the work they compose.
A slightly more unusual trait is their juxtaposition with technology.
Both directors are *very* technical, the advantages in today's gadget ridden society is obvious in problem solving. Three letter acronyms such as FTP, RAR, SMF, VAG, MP3 & WAV roll off the tongue.
B&B are currently involved in starting a ringtone company with fellow like minded associates.
In May 2004, they even had their first brush with Hollywood.
Paul "Bob" Arnold - Creative Director
50% of the creative team behind Bob & Barn, Paul met Andrew at Millennium Interactive, a Cambridge based game development studio.
Armed with an MSc in music Technology, a BA (hons) in music & Computer Science, a rock guitar and a trumpet, Paul can apply himself to any musical genre known to man – provided that genre involves those instruments just listed.
Andrew "Barn" Barnabas - Creative Director
The other 50%, and generally regarded as the bad cop of the 2 ! Andrew’s first published work was the seminal game SWIV on the Amiga in 1990.
Follow that by a stint at university earning him a BA (hons) in music whilst running game music "label" DENS Design with fellow European composers. He joined Millennium Interactive in 1995 with a degree and some dubious jazz piano skills.

Bob & Barn Lyrics

You better stop the things that you do
I ain't lyin', no, I ain't lyin'
I just can't stand it babe
The way you're always runnin' 'round
I just can't stand it, the way you always put me down
I put a spell on you because you're mine
You better stop the things that you do
I ain't lyin', no, I ain't lyin'
I just can't stand it babe
The way you're always runnin' 'round
I just can't stand it, the way you always put me down
I put a spell on you because you're mine
I put a spell on you. I put a spell on you
I put a spell on you. I put a spell on you
The lyrics to Bob & Barn's song "The Spell" are deeply rooted in themes of possessiveness, jealousy, and a desire for control within a romantic relationship. The repetition of the line "I put a spell on you because you're mine" suggests that the singer is using supernatural means to exert power over their partner. By placing a spell on the other person, the singer is essentially trying to manipulate their emotions and actions, claiming ownership and control over them.
The refrain "You better stop the things that you do" highlights the singer's dissatisfaction with their partner's behavior and a sense of possessiveness that drives them to take extreme measures. The singer expresses a sense of frustration and helplessness, as they cannot tolerate the thought of their partner being unfaithful or disrespectful. This possessive and controlling behavior is further emphasized by the repetition of the lines "I just can't stand it babe" and "the way you always put me down," revealing a deep-seated insecurity and need for validation.
The repeated assertion that "I put a spell on you because you're mine" suggests a belief that the partner belongs to the singer and should conform to their expectations. The use of the word "spell" connotes a sense of enchantment, suggesting that the singer is willing to resort to dark or manipulative tactics to keep their partner under their control. This desperate need for possession and control is underscored by the repetition of the phrase "I put a spell on you" throughout the song, reflecting the singer's relentless determination to maintain dominance in the relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Spell" paint a portrait of a toxic and controlling relationship, where one partner resorts to supernatural means to assert power and influence over the other. The repeated refrains and assertions of ownership convey a sense of possessiveness, jealousy, and a desperate need for control that ultimately poisons the dynamics of the relationship. Through these lyrics, Bob & Barn explore the darker aspects of love and relationships, delving into the destructive consequences of possessiveness and manipulation.
