Daisley was bassist and lyricist for Ozzy Osbourne on his most successful solo releases of the 1980's. After a lawsuit brought by Daisley for unpaid royalties, his bass tracks were removed from later remasters of Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman albums in 2002. The tracks were re-recorded by Rob Trujillo of Suicidal Tendencies and Metallica fame.
In 1983 however, he went back to working with Osbourne, with whom he would continue to write and record throughout the 1980s and into the '90s, playing on and writing all the lyrics for Bark at the Moon, No Rest For The Wicked and The Ultimate Sin (for which he was also originally uncredited) in 1986. Daisley maintained his working relationship with Osbourne up until 1991's No More Tears album which featured his bass playing despite the presence of Mike Inez (who later joined Alice in Chains) in the album's promotional videos.
During his on-again, off-again relationship with Osbourne, Daisley also recorded many albums with Gary Moore and toured extensively with him.
In 1987 he was approached by producer Jeff Glixman to play on the Black Sabbath album The Eternal Idol as the band's actual bass player Dave Spitz "wasn't working out". However, Spitz was still credited on the final release along with Daisley. Daisley was offered the bassist spot in Black Sabbath but turned it down due to his commitment to Moore. He continued to work with Gary Moore until recently.
Since the beginning of the '90s, Daisley has contributed to a wealth of recordings as bassist, lyricist and producer, including albums by Yngwie Malmsteen, Takara, Bill Ward and Jeff Watson of Night Ranger. Shortly after, Daisley and Watson teamed up once again and formed Mother's Army along with vocalist Joe Lynn Turner and drummer Carmine Appice. In 2003, following his second and unsuccessful suit against Ozzy Osbourne, he teamed up with Lee Kerslake, Steve Morse of Deep Purple and Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes to record an album under the name Living Loud. Six of the album's eleven tracks were covers from Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. Don Airey also played keyboards on the Living Loud album. On 7 February 2003 Daisley recorded a live show at The Basement in Sydney with Australian blues band The Hoochie Coochie Men, for a live DVD and CD release. Also featured were former Deep Purple organist Jon Lord and Jimmy Barnes. In 2007 The Hoochie Coochie Men released the studio album 'Danger: White Men Dancing' also featuring Jon Lord.
Crazy Train
Bob Daisley Lyrics

Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay
Crazy, but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
Let's go
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words, yeah
Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something' that just isn't fair
Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train
(Ha ha ha, bitch!)
Bob Daisley's Crazy Train is an iconic rock song, originally released by Ozzy Osbourne in 1980. This song, full of insightful lyrics, speaks to the craziness of the world and how it adversely affects people. The song opens with a very iconic riff, followed by a maniacal laugh, which sets the perfect tone for the chaotic nature of the song. The opening lines, "Crazy, but that's how it goes, millions of people living as foes", tell us that the world is crazy, and despite all the conflicts, wars, and arguments, we are all still living alongside each other.
The next part is a call to love, to forget the hate and learn to love, to undo the damages of mental wounds that have not healed. The song then goes on to speak about the role of the media in shaping and controlling our thoughts, conditioning us to live a certain way, perpetuating the madness. The chorus comes back with the lyrics, "I'm going off the rails on a crazy train", which is a metaphor for losing control, going insane.
The second verse speaks about how everything seems to be going wrong despite listening to preachers and fools and watching the dropouts. The lines, "Mental wounds still screaming, driving me insane", show that the pain never goes away, it only gets unbearable. The song concludes with the lyrics, "Who and what's to blame, I'm going off the rails on a crazy train," which are words of despair, almost as if the singer is accepting his fate, and possibly even resigning to it.

Fantastic bass (and songwriting) by the legend Bob Daisley, great heavy bass sound as well.

Sounds badass !
Ontariosound
Bob has stated that he plugged into Randyâs 100 watt stack for the recording of his bass for this album. No pedals and no DI used. Seems to have worked đ¤

@Ontariosound Cool ! I expected it to be something like that actually, im a guitarplayer myself and have been recording my band and miced up bass amps before but with a combination of lined direct sound and with the right mix have gotten a really powerful heavy sound not that far from this example.

Agreed. I've never heard the bass so prominent in the mix before. It really is great đđť
