During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

So that I may win your love?
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
You're jumping 'round like a lamb
Just because you put me in [unverified]
And I'll live my life the way that I want
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
I will send for you and you make me feel so blue
Little dear, what do you want me to do?
[Unverified] just to see me through
But I can't say that I'm keen and so blue so, yeah
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
Now you're jumping 'round like a lamb
Just because you take me in [unverified]
And I'll live my life the way that I want
But I just gone through love and it is here to talk, so
What am I to do, my dear
So that I may win your love?
In the song โLove And Affection,โ Bob Marley & The Wailers express their desire to win someone's love. The song begins by asking the question, โWhat am I to do, my dear, so that I may win your love?โ The singer is clearly anxious to know what he must do to gain the affections of the person he loves.
The following verse describes the object of his affection as โjumping 'round like a lamb,โ which is interpreted to mean that she is showing signs of happiness and excitement. He goes on to say that he will live his life as he wants, but admits that he needs her and it is a โsin to talk.โ In the second verse, he describes how she makes him feel blue, but he still needs her to โsee me through.โ However, he is not enthusiastic about the situation and feels โkeen and so blue.โ
The chorus repeats the same question, asking what he must do to win her affection. The final verse again mentions her jumping around like a lamb and how he will live his life the way he wants. However, he still needs her and cannot help but love her.
Overall, the lyrics to โLove And Affectionโ express the desire to win someone's love while acknowledging the difficulties that come with the pursuit of love.
