Once he started a solo career, Brown enjoyed commercial and critical success with his second album Don't Be Cruel (1988) which spawned five Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles, including the number one hit "My Prerogative", and the Grammy Award-winning "Every Little Step". In 1989, Brown contributed two songs to the soundtrack of Ghostbusters II. In 1992, Brown married superstar singer Whitney Houston, with whom he later had a daughter named Bobbi Kristina Brown. The couple's drug issues and domestic disputes made them tabloid fodder.
Brown's next album Bobby (1992) spawned several singles including "Humpin' Around", "Get Away", and "Good Enough", however, sales of Bobby did not reach the level of its predecessor.
Brown also appeared in the films A Thin Line Between Love and Hate and Two Can Play That Game. He returned to New Edition for a reunion album and tour from 1996 to 1997, and returned with all six members for another stint in 2005. Brown and Houston starred in the 2005 reality show Being Bobby Brown; Houston filed for divorce two years later in 2007.

Ow, yeah
I can't sleep at night, I toss and turn
Listenin' for the telephone
But when I get your call I'm all choked up
Can't believe you called my home
And as a matter of fact, it blows my mind
Because a girl like you is a dream come true
A real life fantasy
No matter what your friends try to tell ya
We were made to fall in love (in love)
And we will be together, any kind of weather
It's like that, it's like that
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
I can't think too straight, I'm all confused
You must've put a thing on me
Because there are no words that can explain
I'm livin' in ecstasy
And you can best believe, I got ya back
You never have to feel no pain
'Cause I'd dedicate my life to you
You'll never look for love again
No matter what your friends try to tell ya
We were made to fall in love (in love)
And we will be together, any kind of weather
It's like that, it's like that
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little, woo
Every little step I- (every little step)
Every little, every little step I take (oh no)
Every little
Every little step I (every little step)
Every little, we'll be together, girl
You got the good lovin'
You got the good lovin'
No matter what your friends try to tell ya
We were made to fall in love (in love)
And we will be together, any kind of weather
It's like that, it's like that (girl)
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I take
You will be there
Every little step I make
We'll be together
Every little step I (every little step)
Every little
Every little step I take
Every little
Every little step I take (every little step)
Every little (we'll be together girl)
Every little step I take (good lovin')
Bobby Brown's song Every Little Step is an upbeat and catchy love song that refers to a love interest that the singer can't believe is interested in him. The lyrics start with the singer admitting that he can't sleep at night, he's tossing and turning while waiting for a phone call. When the phone finally rings, he's all choked up and surprised that the girl would take the time to talk to him. The singer is completely enamoured with this girl and describes her as a dream come true, a real-life fantasy.
The chorus contains the memorable lyric "Every little step I take, you will be there" and "Every little step I make, we'll be together". The singer is expressing his deep love and devotion to his love interest, he's completely dedicated to making the relationship work, no matter the obstacles that may arise. The bridge also highlights his commitment, stating "No matter what your friends try to tell ya, we were made to fall in love (in love) and we will be together, any kind of weather, it's like that, it's like that".
Overall, the song's lyrics convey a sense of young love and infatuation. The singer is completely devoted to his love interest and is willing to go to great lengths to make the relationship work.
