Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Somebody's calling my name
Hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name
Calling me angel an' a honey dear
Well, whoa-ho, hush, hush
Whoa-ho, hush, hush
Whoa-ho, hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name.
Hush, I say hush
Somebody's calling my name
Whoa-o-o, won't you hush
Somebody's calling my name.
If it's the girl I've been searching for
I'll tell the world I won't-a search no more
Now, whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name.
Well, talk to my mother wouldn't do me no good
Talk to my brother wouldn't do me no good
I talked to the gypsy and she said, Rejoice
You'll know your lover by the sound of his voice.
So hush, I say hush
Somebody's calling my name
Whoa now listen, won't you hush
Somebody's calling my name.
I see my baby up on a hill
I love her now and I always will
So whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Whoa-ho hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name, yeah …
Somebody's calling my name, yeah …
Somebody's calling my name, yeah …
Somebody's calling my name.
The lyrics to Bobby Darin's "Hush Somebody's Callin' My Name" tell a story of a man who hears someone calling his name, and he's trying to figure out who it is. He's hopeful that it's the girl he's been searching for because if it is, he won't have to search anymore. He's tried talking to his mother and brother, but it hasn't done him any good. He's talked to a gypsy, who told him to rejoice because he'll know his lover by the sound of his voice.
The repetition of the phrase "hush, hush" creates a sense of urgency and tension, as the man is trying to figure out who is calling him. The line "I hear a voice so sweet an' clear calling me angel an' a honey dear" adds to the sense of hopefulness and longing, as the man hopes that the person calling him is the girl he's been searching for.
The line "I see my baby up on a hill, I love her now and I always will" shows that the man has finally found the person calling his name, and it's the girl he's been looking for. The repetition of the phrase "somebody's calling my name" throughout the song creates a sense of anticipation and urgency, making the song a powerful ode to love and longing.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
