Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Now all at once it's you
It's you forevermore
I've never been in love before
Kinda thought my heart was safe
Thought I knew the score
But this is wine that's all too strange and strong
I'm full of foolish song
So please forgive this helpless haze I'm in
I've really never been
In love before
But this is wine that's all too strange and strong
I'm full of foolish song
And out my song must pour
So please forgive this helpless haze I'm in
I've really never been
In love before
The lyrics of Bobby Darin's "I've Never Been in Love Before" is an expression of the feeling one experiences when for the first time they realize they are falling in love. The singer of the song had never experienced what it felt like to be in love before, and now suddenly it's the person they're with who has drawn out these feelings within them. Before the singer met this person, they had thought they knew what love felt like and assumed their heart was safe. But now, they are experiencing something new, intense, and unfamiliar.
Throughout the song, the singer draws an analogy, comparing love to wine, expressing how it's a strange and strong experience that they had never previously experienced. The lyrics convey that the singer is in a state of helplessness, confusion, and disorientation as they try to navigate this new territory of emotions.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
