Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Not Mine
Bobby Darin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's somebody else's night for love, not mine
A heart to someone else is a thing that melts
To me it's just a comic Valentine
Let somebody else's tear be shed, not mine
Let somebody else's nose get red, not mine
I like playing solitaire
But until I can draw a pair
In the song "Not Mine" by Bobby Darin, the singer expresses his loneliness and longing for love. He notes that while there may be a moon in the sky, it belongs to someone else and not to him. The same is true for the night, which someone else may be spending wrapped in the arms of a loved one. For the singer, the heart is not a romantic symbol, but merely a token of sentimentality that holds no meaning. While others may shed tears and display emotion, the singer remains stoic and isolated, content to play solitaire rather than face the pain of unreturned love.
The song expresses a sense of detachment and resignation, revealing the singer's belief that love may not be meant for him. He describes himself as a solitary figure, unable to draw a pair in life or in love. The lyrics convey a sense of sadness and longing, as the singer laments his inability to experience the happiness and intimacy that others seem to take for granted. Overall, the song captures the bittersweet realization that sometimes, despite our deepest desires, we must accept that some things are simply not meant to be.

on Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home
One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
