Through a Long and Sleepless Night
Bobby Darin Lyrics
Through a long and sleepless night
I whisper your name
Through a long and sleepless night
Of who is to blame
Can't help but wonder
If you're lonely too
As I lie here and toss about
So alone, so without you
How I wish, my heart with me
My memories alone
Why must I re-dream, re-live
The Joys we have known
I pray that someday
Our love will see the light' til then
In thick dark silence I beg my heart to replace
All through and oh so long and sleepless night
I pray that someday
Our love will see the light' til then
In thick dark silence
I beg my heart to replace
All through alone so long and sleepless night

Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were there son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

I never get sick of listening to this 'REAL MUSIC'. The gorgeous richness of Bobby's voice is unmistakable and no one else has the depth of emotion in singing that he has. Give this man a song, any song, he makes it his own and what comes out of his mouth is pure magic. Sad knowing that we lost this man way to early. God bless you Bobby for the wonderful years you gave us and all the awesome music you left us with along with all your other awesome works of talent. A genius always at work, Mr. Perfectionist who is dearly loved and ever so sadly missed. RIP !!!!!!!!

I don't think there EVER was anyone like him in show business. A rock n' roller who moved into the Copa and pop and then country, had his own TV show, then was nominated for an Oscar. His versatility was unmatched and he did this all before age 39. No one else had this resume. Amazing. Success with all.

Was jealous of Bobby when he was in his prime. Now, as I grow older I realize what a talent he was. A life so short -- but a voice that lives forever. Rest in peace Bobby. And thank you for what you left us.

I love Bobby Darin. I sometimes think about how I was thrown into the wrong time. This is the music of thinkers and the people who feel emotion.
