Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Up a Lazy River
Bobby Darin Lyrics

Lazy river in the noon day sun
Linger awhile in the shade of a tree
Throw away your troubles, dream with me
Up a lazy river where the robin's song
Wakes the morning, we roll along
Make me blue skies above
Up a lazy river, how happy we'll be
Up a lazy river with me
Up a lazy river by the old mill run
That's a lazy, lazy river in the noonday sun
You can linger for a while in the shade of a tree
Throw away your troubles, baby, dream a dream of me
Up a lazy river where the robin's song
Wakes a bright new mornin' where we can roll along
There may be blue skies up above
But, as long as we're in love
Yeah, we'll be up a lazy river how happy we could be
Up a lazy river with me
From the halfway mark
Yeah, up a lazy river where that robin's song
Awakes a bright new mornin', we can roll along
A, a, a, there are blue skies up above
And as long as we're in love
We'll be up a lazy river
Up a crazy, lazy river
Up a lazy river
I ain't goin' your way
Get outta my way
Up a lazy river with me
The lyrics of Bobby Darin's "Lazy River" paint a whimsical picture of a couple floating along a river in the summertime, free from any worries or responsibilities. The opening verse introduces listeners to the lazy river itself, with the mill run running by and the sun shining overhead. The second verse sets the scene even further, with the robin's song signaling a new morning, and the blue skies reminding us that everyone's in love. The chorus repeats the idea of being happy and carefree up a lazy river, and encourages the listener to join along.
The third verse breaks from the previous structure, introducing a potential conflict in the lazy river journey: another person going in a different direction. However, the verse ends with the singer still inviting that person to join them, referencing the title phrase of the song once again. This final repetition of the chorus strengthens the idea that, no matter what comes up in life, everything will be okay when taking a float on a lazy river with someone special.
Overall, the lyrics of "Lazy River" symbolize a desire to escape the stresses of daily life and instead embrace the simple pleasures of nature and love. The song encourages listeners to slow down, take a break from their worries, and enjoy the ride.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
