It's unfortunate that we even have to say 'Black Lives Matter'
It's unfortunate that there's a need to specifically say that black lives matter, as if it weren't inherently understood and valued.

I mean, if you go through history nobody ever gave a fuck
Throughout history, black lives have never actually mattered or been given the attention, care, or value they deserve.

I mean, you can kill black people in the street
Black people are often treated as expendable, with no one held accountable for their deaths, even if it happens in the most public of places.

Nobody goes to jail, nobody goes to prison
There are little to no consequences for those who kill black people, with no legal or societal justice served.

But when I say 'Black Lives Matter' and you say 'All Lives Matter'
When I specifically state that black lives matter, it doesn't mean other lives don't, it's just that right now, black lives need to be acknowledged and protected.

That's like if I was to say 'Gay Lives Matter' And you say 'All Lives Matter'
When I say a certain group of lives matter, it's not exlcuding all other lives, it's just trying to raise the voices of a marginalized and oppressed group.

You're diluting what I'm saying
When you respond to 'Black Lives Matter' with 'All Lives Matter,' it diminishes and devalues the importance of valuing and protecting black lives.

You're diluting the issue
By attempting to make the issue about everyone, you're actually detracting from the fact that right now, the focus needs to be on valuing black lives.

The issue isn't about everybody, it's about black lives, at the moment
The issue of valuing lives doesn't mean other lives aren't valuable, but at the moment, black lives are at the forefront of the conversation and need to be prioritized.

But the truth of the matter is, they don't really give a fuck about anybody
The underlying reality is that no lives really matter to those in power, as long as they don't have enough money and resources to fight back.

If you examine the issue closely and honestly, without any pretense, you'll realize the ugly truth at the core of it all.

In reality, black lives have never truly mattered or been valued throughout history, regardless of what's been written in textbooks or proclaimed publicly.

There has never been enough widespread awareness or care about the value and dignity of black lives to actually create real change and protection.

The history that has been written and taught is often whitewashed and distorted, and doesn't reflect the harsh realities that black people have faced throughout history.

The issue of not valuing and protecting lives isn't just about black people, but affects anyone who isn't privileged or wealthy enough to be protected by the system.

Even poor white people, who are often thought to be privileged, are still left behind and undervalued if they don't have enough money or power.

They can't, fuck with us Once they realize we're all on the same side
If we all join together and realize that we're all facing the same issues and enemies, the oppressors won't be able to divide and conquer us anymore.

They can't, split us up And let them prosper off the divide
If we unite and don't let the oppressors create rifts between us, they won't be able to use those divide to stay in power and profit off our suffering.

Don't let the oppressors distract us with other issues or create the appearance that racism doesn't exist anymore, because it's still very much a real and oppressive force.

Those in power will exploit and oppress anyone who they think can't fight back or don't have enough money or power to do so, but we need to put a stop to that.

The people have had enough Right now, it's them against us
People are fed up with being exploited and oppressed, and it's time to unite against those in power who seek to keep us down.
