Wait For The Sun
Bolland & Bolland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The streets they are deserted
And the late show's just begun
The old man looks around
Because he's waiting for the sun

Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun to come
Well, the rain is gonna fall
The fee won't even dry the car
It's my life
It's my life

They were raised in New York City
Not a soul who knew your name
And all the people you met
Wouldn't give you anything

Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun to come
Well, the winter's past and gone
And now you're on your own
It's your life
It's your life

Don't ever leave because the sun won't shine
Most folks haven't got a love like mine, love like mine
Love like mine

The streets they are deserted
And the late show's just begun
The old man looks around
Because he's waiting for the sun

Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun to come
Well, the rain is gonna fall
The fee won't even dry the car
It's my life
It's my life

Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun
Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun

Hey, hey, hey, wait for the sun

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bolland & Bolland's song "Wait for the Sun" tell the story of someone waiting for the sun to come out of hiding. The streets are deserted, and the late show has just begun, but the old man is waiting for the sun. The lyrics suggest a feeling of solitude and isolation, with no one around to bring comfort, but the hope remains that the sun will bring warmth and light. The chorus repeats the call to wait for the sun, emphasizing the idea that all we can do is be patient and hope for better times to come.

The second verse introduces a new perspective, that of someone who was raised in New York City but remained unknown to others. They encountered people who wouldn't give them anything, emphasizing the feeling of being alone in a crowded city. The chorus repeats, this time emphasizing that those listening should wait for the sun to come into their own lives, as the winter has passed, and they are now on their own.

Overall, the song suggests a longing for something better, for light to shine through darkness, and the hope for a brighter future. The repetition of the chorus reinforces this idea of waiting patiently for better times to come, just as we wait for the sun to rise after a long night.

Thanks for putting this one on - I remember hearing this song on RNI in the early 70s. Good to hear it without the crackle and fade.

And the regular Daa-daa-da-daa of the jamming signal (Russian? or UK?)

@gerarddalenoort4799

@MultiNaturalice

Noem je dat geweldig goede hits? Er zit kraak nog smaak aan al die bagger die ze geproduceerd hebben. Gaan er niet 13, maar 10.000 van in een dozijn. Totaal overgewaardeerd

@spurs19571

Ferdie is 16 jaar getrouwd geweest met de inmiddels overleden (2017) zangeres Sandra Reemer

@MadAndyBeckman

I love the way how often when their stuff is put on somebody else mentions RNI or Mi Amigo.
