You saved me from stinging and being holed up
And braking in snow and killing more
And over spilling my runneth cup
You had light in your hands and your eyes closed
You had movement out of my sight
You wore no shoes and ate like a leopard
And if I had to live
This is what it should be
To have such a woman with me
When tidal wave hit and our house was in splinters
I thought you had took all you had to take
But you snuggled to me on the ground in the winter
And your breath smelled like honey in the frosty air wake
And if I had to live
This is what it should be
To have such a woman with me
The lyrics of Bonnie's song "Big Friday" is a tribute to a woman who has been there for the singer through thick and thin. The song is filled with metaphors that express how much the woman means to the singer. The first line of the song, "You saved me from melting, baby," expresses how the woman has saved him from falling apart, just like something that melts loses its form and shape. The singer goes on to say that the woman has saved him from stinging, being holed up, braking in snow, killing more, and over spilling his runneth cup. All these metaphors express how the woman has saved him from the harsh realities of life.
In the second verse, the singer talks about how the woman had light in her hands and closed eyes, movement out of his sight, wore no shoes and ate like a leopard, and slept with her legs apart every night. These lines are once again a tribute to the strength and independence of the woman. The third verse talks about how the woman was there for him even when a tidal wave hit and their house was in splinters. He thought she had taken all she had to take but still, she snuggled to him on the ground in the winter, and her breath smelled like honey in the frosty air wake. The song ends with the singer saying that this is how he would like to live, to have such a woman with him.
Overall, "Big Friday" is a beautiful and poetic tribute to a strong and independent woman who has been there for the singer through thick and thin. The metaphors that the singer uses to describe the woman are powerful and express how much she means to him.
