I thought I gave it everything
But still there's so much road ahead of me
When I looked into your eyes
I guess I didn't recognize
Who we are and all that we can be
But it's worth it in the end
'Cause in your heart is where it all begins
We gotta be bold
We gotta be brave
We gotta be free
We gotta get loud
Making that change
You gotta believe (whoa)
We'll look deep inside
And we'll rise up and shine
We can be bold
We can be brave
Let everyone see
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey)
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey)
It starts with you and me
There's something special that I've learned
It's together we can change the world
Everybody's got something they can bring
When you take a look inside yourself
Do you wish that you were something else?
But who you are is who you need to be
Sometimes it's hard to find yourself
But it's worth it in the end
'Cause in your heart is where it all begins
We gotta be bold
We gotta be brave
We gotta be free
We gotta get loud
Making that change
You gotta believe (whoa)
We'll look deep inside
And we'll rise up and shine
We can be bold
We can be brave
Let everyone see
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey)
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey)
It starts with you and me
We all can do a part
We know that it can be the start
To bring about the difference that we need (yeah)
I promise we can work this out
I promise we can see it through
Don't you know it's up to me
It's up to me and you
We gotta be bold
We gotta be brave
We gotta be free (wanna be free)
We gotta get loud
Making that change
You gotta believe (whoa)
We'll look deep inside (take your high)
And we'll rise up and shine (oh-oh)
We can be bold
We can be brave
Let everyone see
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey)
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey) (yeah-yeah)
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey) (yeah)
It starts with you and me (whoa-oh, whoa-oh, hey) (oh-oh, yeah yeah)
It starts with you and me
The lyrics to Booboo Stewart's song "You and Me" convey a powerful message of self-discovery and the potential for positive change. The first verse reflects on the past and the realization that despite previous efforts, there is still a long journey ahead. Looking into someone else's eyes, the singer acknowledges that they didn't fully recognize their own identity and potential. This introspection leads to the understanding that finding oneself can be difficult, but ultimately worth it because everything begins in the heart.
The chorus reinforces the need to be bold, brave, and free. It emphasizes the importance of making a positive impact and believing in oneself. The lyrics encourage looking deep within and rising up to shine. The repetition of "It starts with you and me" highlights the personal responsibility each individual has in initiating change and creating a better world.
The second verse explores the idea that everyone has something unique to contribute to the world. It questions the tendency to compare oneself to others and yearn to be someone else, emphasizing the importance of accepting and embracing one's true self. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the need for boldness, bravery, and belief in order to effect change.
The bridge strengthens the message of collective action and unity. It expresses the belief that everyone can play a part in initiating positive change and that working together can bring about the difference needed. The lyrics promise that the challenges can be overcome but emphasize that it is up to each individual to take responsibility.
In summary, "You and Me" by Booboo Stewart encourages self-discovery, embracing one's true self, and taking personal responsibility to bring about positive change. It highlights the importance of being bold, brave, and free, and underscores the belief that everything starts with each individual.
