Show me soul- I agree with every word. I was just thinkin’ that musicians and bands don’t approach it properly. May I make some suggestions for music lovers? YouTube :

“ Larry Carlton- Coming Home Baby- 1997”

“ Live from Daryl’s House w/Celo- I cant go for that “. That bass player and the drummer are just locked in.

And anything live by Ramsey Lewis or the Modern Jazz Quartet, Kenny Burrell or Dweezil Zappa playing live “ Zappa Plays Zappa “ all those guys recommended are tighter than a fish’s asshole
Hendrix said “ if there’s even one guy in the band who’s unhappy, it messes up the whole sound “. ( I think meaning Mr Noel Redding, for example) .

Not to say that Noel didn’t have some valid points; he kept a journal, and stated that he, Jimi and Mitch Mitchell were getting ripped off right before their eyes while on tour. And that Jimi had no repoire (sp?) musically or Spiritually with him.
I guess they shouldn’t have hired a guitarist ( Noel Redding) to play bass. I think that would set all kinds of negative tensions in a band, including jealousy and inadequacy. Therefore going back to Jimi’s quote, “ if you have one guy in the band that’s not happy, it ruins the whole sound “.

.....or YouTube Tito Puente and his band playing live his composition “ Oye Como Va”. Talk about tight AND having fun

Though all versions are great, this by far hits the spot

@SupersonicMark

The Booker T Magic runs through this version

@showmesoul

Booker T was, I dunno...18 when he recorded this? The rest of the guys weren't much older. His playing even then showed the genius, taste, and soulful style that would become the hallmarks of his career in music. That goes for the rest of the band as well. Their chemistry, musicianship, and ability to play as an ensemble makes Booker T & the MG's the perfect example of how a band should approach making music together.

@KingDavid314

He was 17.
