Growing up, Boosie was hardened by the many difficult experiences he was put through. His neighborhood, notorious for drugs and violence, was a place feared by the general population. To outsiders, it was a jungle, to residents, it was life. Boosie got very involved in basketball to stay off the streets, and was actually expected to move on to college level basketball.
At 14 years old, Boosie moved in to live with his grandmother after his father was murdered over drugs. Growing up with no father figure and without a strong guiding hand, Boosie turned to drugs and crime. After being expelled from school, Boosie picked up freestyling and began to get serious about his music. Living in the 225, Boosie had no contacts, no real means of exposure. Lil Boosie teamed up with Baton Rouge rapper C-Loc in the late 1990s and made his debut on C-Loc's 5th album, "It's a Gamble", which also featured Three Six Mafia, South Park Mexican, and the rest of the Concentration Camp. This album was a saving grace for C-Loc, as he was slowly losing popularity. Releasing this album put him back in the spotlight, as he had a new young tallented rapper at his side. Baton Rouge couldn't get enough. Shortly afterwards, Boosie released his debut CD, "Youngest of the Camp", which sold over 10,000 units and featured fellow up and coming Baton Rouge rapper Max Minelli, which was exactly what boosie needed to jump start his career. The album spread like wildfire, every hood in Baton Rouge had flyers up for it, everybody was playing it.
After the incarceration, Boosie once again turned back to the streets. Ultimately, his behavior led to him also being incarcerated. At this point, Boosie felt as though he was a failure. However, fate lent Boosie a hand, and Boosie had an opportunity to join an up and coming record label called Trill Entertainment aka Trill Ent which was backed by Pimp-C of UGK. Trill signed Boosie and assisted him in bring his legal issues to an end. Soon after, Boosie and Trill independently released the CD "For my Thugs" under TrillEnt. This release went on to sell over 15,000 copies. Later in the summer of 2003, Boosie co-starred with one of his label-mates, Webbie, on the album "Ghetto Stories" which also went on to sell well over 15,000 copies.
Again paired up with Webbie, Lil Boosie's 2004 release, "Gangsta Musik" is what really gained him popularity. This CD featured the ever popular songs "Swerve" (which later made an appearance in the movie "Hustle and Flow"), "Give Me That", and "Bad Bitch". This was Boosie's first really popular album, actually penetrating the borders of Louisiana and reaching far beyond.
Boosie's talent was now undeniable, and he caught the eye of some Universal Records representatives. In late January of 2005, Boosie signed a deal with Universal, and released the CD "Boosie Bad Azz". This album, backed and promoted by Universal Records, was his strongest yet. Boosie continues to gain popularity at an astonishing rate, and is no stranger to trouble with the law. Already incarcerated for probation violation on drug and gun charges, the Trill Entertainment rapper and two associates (one of them only 17 years old) were indicted on first-degree murder charges by a grand jury on Thursday, June 17, 2010. The men are accused of being involved in the shooting of 35-year-old Terry Boyd in his own house in October. District attorney Hiler Moore stated that the killing seemed to be "over turf" and that if Lil Boosie is convicted the death penalty is not out of the question. The same day, Hatch was also indicted on multiple drug and conspiracy charges for smuggling large amounts of codeine, ecstasy and marijuana into prison with intent to distribute. His girlfriend, a prison guard and a fellow inmate were also charged as co-conspirators. In addition to these charges, prosecutors believe the 27-year-old rapper may have been involved in at least five other slayings.

Real shit
Since I was a lil' nigga, this dude was my homie
Cops on the corner, he the one who will warn me
Never showed the lead, but my momma say he phony
I'm giving her the look like "yeah right, that's my homie"
Years past by made my money grew bigger
I'll smack one of these niggas right in front of you, nigga
Thick or thin, life or sin, I stood up for you, nigga
I'm like "damn, this nigga tripping now"
Caught this nigga's hand stealing out the pot
I'm like "damn dog, this nigga must forgot"
My nigga then, my nigga then if he got or not
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they'll get you killed or have you wearing orange colors
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time, son
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they'll get you killed or have you wearing orange colors
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time
Put your faith in man, he will fail you every time, son
Momma always warned me 'bout these niggas and these bitches
Told me plenty times how these niggas turn to snitches
Told me plenty times how these bitches want your riches
Game played, mistakes made, damn, I should've listened
Her words came cold, so I felt like she was tripping
She told me "you gon' learn the hard way", I'm reminiscing
But I listen what the raw say, fuck it, go and flip 'em
She told me slow my role not one time, but like a million
She prodded out the light, what was in the dark?
Told me about Polk, I'm like OG's don't talk to you
Looking at that black and white paper in the dark
And this nigga just explained "I'ma kill her" with no heart
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they'll get you killed or have you wearing orange colors
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time, son
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they'll get you killed or have you wearing orange colors
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time
Put your faith in man, he will fail you every time, son
It's like we can't see it sometime, but momma be on it
We don't want it to be true, we just enjoying the moment
We don't really know who phony 'til the phony go phony
And Momma words flash back when that phony your homie
Niggas talk behind computers, but they really don't want it
"Shouldn't have gave that nigga shit, son", you're right about that
Girl, we used to rock tough, live life like that
Old buster ass bitch couldn't even write me back
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they'll get you killed or have you wearing orange colors
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time
Don't put your faith in man, he will fail you every time, son
Momma always warned me of busters
She say they get you killed and have you wearing orange colors
Momma always warned me of busters
Momma always warned me of busters
Fuck it, this the fourth verse, this shit will make my heart hurt
When the nigga who you really love in your paperwork
I got some niggas gone who used to move my paperwork
Early morning up, going and getting it, moving major work
I've seen niggas gunsmoke their own brothers
I've seen niggas steal from their baby mothers
Nigga changed in the rain when you no longer ball
How you gon' make niggas real who ain't real at all?
Same nigga you're at the mall doing your thing with
Snaking on the cool and he trying to get your main bitch
Buster ass nigga, you ain't nothing I want to hang with or talk to
Look, you gon' stay from 'round me and I'm gon' stay from 'round you
Buster ass nigga
In Boosie Badazz's song "Warning Signs," he reflects on the lessons his mother taught him about trusting people and avoiding "busters," or fake friends who could get him into trouble. Boosie describes a childhood friend who used to warn him about police presence on their block, but later showed his true colors when he stole from Boosie. Despite this betrayal, Boosie initially wanted to give his friend another chance, only to receive further warning signs about his character from his mother.
Throughout the song, Boosie emphasizes the importance of listening to his mother's advice and warnings, even when it goes against his own desires or instincts. He regrets not heeding her warnings in the past and reflects on instances where others he trusted turned out to be snakes in the grass. Despite the difficulties of trusting others, Boosie ultimately puts his faith in God and himself, acknowledging that humans will inevitably disappoint and fail others.
Overall, "Warning Signs" serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of blind trust and the importance of listening to one's intuition and wise elders. It highlights the harsh realities of navigating contextual survival within a corrupt system, and the desperation of choosing connections one can find for protect and provide.
