Star
Boozoo Bajou Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Are you solid?
Are you solid as a rock?
Have you a strong foundation
Or can your soul be bought
It ain't true that
Everybody's got a price
I sing this song for everyone
Who stands up for their rights

Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star
Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star

Sister Rosa, Malcolm X, and Dr king
Showed we got power, showed the changes we could bring
To change society, you have got to change the law
Their bodies may be gone but their spirits still live on

Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star
Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star

Rebels souls!
For the dreamers, rebels souls and future days
Be brave and strong, keep keeping on,
be conscious in the chaos
Queen of England, there's no greater anarchist
One mans freedom fighter is another's terrorist

Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star
Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star
Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star

Every brother is a star
Every sister is a star

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Boozoo Bajou's song 'Star' talks about the strength and resilience of every individual. The song challenges listeners to reflect on their values and their foundation. The first verse questions if one's soul can be bought, and whether they have a solid foundation or not. The song then touches on the idea that everybody has a price, but it's not true. The chorus emphasizes the notion that every individual is a star, including brothers and sisters.

The second verse mentions historical figures like Sister Rosa, Malcolm X, and Dr. King, who have shown the power of bringing about change in society. The verse highlights that to change society, one must change the law, and although these figures' bodies may be gone, their spirits still live on. The song portrays them as stars who have made history.

The last part of the song includes the message of Rebels souls, dreamers, and conscious individuals who need to be brave and remain strong, even during chaos. The song questions the idea of one's freedom fighter being another's terrorist, emphasizing that Queen of England is the most significant anarchist. The chorus then repeats the message that every brother and sister is a star, irrespective of their background or position.

Overall, the song 'Star' highlights the importance of individual strength, resilience, and the idea that every person has the ability to make a change and become a star.
